Throughout this week, I’ll be taking a look at some players to watch who have are already confirmed to attend. I’ll begin with the 2020 guards.
Bryce Walker | 6’3 | St. Vincent Pallotti
Walker is an athletic guard that attacks the basket at will. This stage should mesh well with his skill set with games being high tempo and giving ample opportunities for guards to make plays off the bounce. Walker, a new addition of St. Vincent Pallotti, is a competitor on the defensive end who takes pride in protecting the rim effectively for his position.
Aaron Russell | 6’1 | Bishop McNamara
Russell was one of the players who took advantage of last year’s event to springboard a productive high school season. The 6-foot-1 lefty can score in a variety of ways and stood out with his intensity on defense. Despite being 6-foot-1, Russell consistently crashes the glass and is always looking to contest shots around the rim.
Cam Sapienza | 6’1 | Mount St. Joseph
Sapienza may not be a name you know now, but I have a strong feeling he’ll use this year’s event to prepare for a solid season with the Gaels. Sapienza will be one of, if not the, top shooter in attendance. He also has high basketball IQ and competes extremely hard on both ends.
Caleb Johnson | 6’2 | Curley
Johnson is another guard that can get it going from deep. He’s a dynamic play maker off the bounce and usually does his damage either from three or in the paint. I expect Johnson to be an impact in transition when he can have his choice of where he wants to score from.
