Were there areas where each individual could improve? Certainly. However, while rifling through my notes, I want to focus on the good things. I want to see where kids excel and why. Here are just some of the players from the Top 250 that had me seeing nothing but good things.
Evan Asante (2021, 5’10”, G, Livonia Stevenson)
I’d take this young man on my team any day of the week. His court demeanor is excellent and it has a positive effect on the entire lineup. Not to mention, Asante has a sweet shooting stroke and solid handles.
Kipras Blazevicius (2021, 6’5″, F, West Bloomfield)
Blazevicius wins hustle points. There’s no doubt that he’ll gain possessions every game for West Bloomfield next season. Blazevicius is a disciplined 2 way player.
Jesse Carpenter Jr. (2021, 5’11”, G, Powers Catholic)
Carpenter Jr. Is a smooth and athletic guard, but he was much more on Sunday. He played with a quiet confidence that was impressive. Carpenter Jr. was willing to take on whatever role was needed from him. I saw him be a primary ball handler, a scoring off guard, and a defensive stopper.
Jaylen Davison (2021, 6’2″, G, Walled Lake Central)
Davison turned heads at the Top 250 just for being who he is. He has a dynamic personality, both on and off the court. Add to that the fact that he was aggressive offensively and successfully attacked the rim, and you have an intriguing prospect.
Isayah Harris (2021, 6’2″, G/F, Clarkston)
Harris has a lot of what coaches are looking for. He’s brought energy to the court for his team on Sunday. Harris was tough and versatile defensively at the Top 250, successfully guarding a variety of players.
Reed Schilling (2021, 6’5″, F, Flushing)
Where do I start. Where was Schilling bad on Sunday? Crickets. He’s just so all around solid. Schilling is due for a strong junior season.
Ethan Tornga (2020, 6’4″, F, Ellsworth Community School)
Coaches always want players that just love the game and appreciate big time environments. Tornga is one of these athletes. He has a team first mentality and a solid base of skills to go with it.
Cole Wilson (2021, 5’11”, G, Clarkston)
Wilson has loads of potential. I loved his mature game, both physically and mentally. After 5 hours of basketball he still never got shaken or rattled.
