Prep Hoops National Notebook: Ten Most Important Weekend Visits
What schools are having the biggest visits this weekend around the country? Prep Hoops gives you the top ten locations.
Alabama. This is a monster weekend at Alabama as they have top 20 senior talent Nimari Burnett coming in and many feel the chances of Nate Oats landing Burnett are strong. Burnett announced a final four of Oregon, Michigan, Texas Tech, and Alabama earlier in the month, and after this weekend Burnett will have visited all four plus Louisville.
Arizona. The Wildcats have a dozen different players on campus headlined by a trio of top 50 level seniors in committed Dalen Terry, one of the nation’s top shooters Kerwin Walton, and forward Donovan “Puff” Johnson. Five-star 2021 talent Nathan Bittle (15th ranked 2021, #1 in Oregon) will also take an official visit during Red-Blue Weekend and 12th ranked 2021 Devin Askew will also be on campus as will be several others.
Sharife CooperAuburn. Sharife Cooper is the 17th ranked player in the country and the top ranked player in Georgia. Most feel that Cooper will eventually pick the Tigers and this weekend he visits along with the third ranked player in the nation Jalen Green. A pair of five star visitors for Bruce Pearl.
Florida State. Top 50 level 2021 Bruce McGowens will be in Tallahassee but the headliner is Scottie Barnes. Barnes is a five star guard that most feel will land at Oregon but this weekend Leonard Hamilton gets his shot at selling his program to one of the nation’s best.
Indiana. The Hoosier staff continues to build recruiting wise. Bringing in talent regularly on visits and hoping to restore the past glory. This weekend’s Bloomington guests include one of the best juniors in Ohio, 6-foot-9 Logan Duncomb, and top 60 nationally ranked senior Hassan Diarra.
Louisville. The Cards look to match the massive visiting group in Arizona by pulling in a huge list of visitors. The biggest names are top 50 senior Jaemyn Brakefield out of Huntington Prep and the second ranked player in Indiana, Kristian Lander. Big man Gethro Muscadin had a visit list of four programs (Minnesota, Kansas State, Kansas, and Texas Tech) but Louisville jumped into the mix this month meaning Gethro will be at Louisville Live.
Moses MoodyMichigan. Juwan Howard hasn’t secured a commitment as head coach yet but he has two top 40 players in Ann Arbor for the next 48 hours. The players are 6-foot-10 big Isaiah Todd and big wing Moses Moody. Howard has a legit shot at both and this weekend is the big sell.
Minnesota. Forward Dawson Garcia begins his senior visit tour for the fall by heading to the Twin Cities campus for the weekend (twenty minutes away). Richard Pitino has a big recruiting battle with Marquette, Indiana, North Carolina, and others in front of him and this weekend is his big chance to try and keep Garcia home. Martice Mitchell is a top 125 talent out of Chicago and he will join Garcia in Minneapolis.
Nebraska. Fred Hoiberg takes advantage of College Gameday in town for the Huskers/Buckeyes football game with a big group of visitors. Jordan Nesbitt is a top 100 junior out of Missouri and Wilhelm Breidenbach is a top 25 national talent out of California, and both will be in Lincoln. Throw in top 50 Frank Anselem and a few others and it’s a huge weekend.
North Carolina. Three of the top seven prospects in the senior class will be in Chapel Hill led by #2 ranked Cade Cunningham, #5 ranked Greg Brown, and #7 ranked Ziaire Williams. Few visits this fall can match that group plus committed Day’Ron Sharpe will be in town as will #4 ranked junior Paolo Banchero.
