There’s no shortage of that this season, as these prospects are set for a big winter. The area is going to see some big time bucket getters, without a doubt.
Another season where players will hit their 1,000th point, if they haven’t already. Also, even chase after 2,000. In this first part, we take a look at a few who will score it at a high rate.
Who Will Fill It Up?
VonCameron Davis (6’5” / WF 2020 / Walnut Ridge): Davis was one of the top scorers in the area last year at about 27 points a game. A mismatch for any team inside, that cleans up everything. This year look for the senior to stretch the floor more, therefore teams will have to respect his outside shot. This could create driving lanes for himself, that will largely benefit. VonCameron is a player to watch when talking about Mr. Basketball, as many have said. Davis will once again put up around 30 PPG this season.
CJ Anthony (6’0” / PG 2020 / Harvest Prep): CJ Anthony plays in a conference where the opposition just can’t guard him. Anthony is much stronger, quicker and smarter on the court then most opposing point guards. Last season the senior netted just under 25 points a contest, but that will likely go up this year. Harvest Prep lost some key contributors, and Anthony will be there to pick up a lot of those numbers. Of course they will reload as well. The lead guard has scored it from all three levels at the high school level, he’ll do it once again this season.
Otto Kuhns (6’3” / WG 2020 / Bloom-Carroll): Otto Kuhns is one of the best athletes in the area. When he isn’t throwing touchdown passes he’s getting buckets. Kuhns is a very good shooter that can catch fire at any time. Also, has the length to score it inside and work on the put back. The senior was good for over 21 points a game contest last season, a number that will likely go up. Otto works on the defense, in which he gets transition baskets as a reward. A smaller school prospect that can go!
Jack Sawyer (6’6” / F 2021 / Pickerington North): I’m not sure if there’s anyone in the state that can stop Sawyer from getting his. A five star football talent that is a matchup problem for the high school basketball level as well. Pickerington Norths’s Sawyer scores over 21 points a game last season, which will definitely improve. The Panthers improved as whole, but so did the physical traits of Sawyer. Teams aren’t able to stop him inside as a work horse, or his turnaround shot. The junior is set for a big winter.
DJ Moore (6’3” / G 2022 / Worthington Christian): Worthington Christian was solid last year and will be even better this season. A lot of that has to do with their sophomore. Moore has grown in height since last season and is noticeably bigger. Moore can score it from all over the place, and is surrounded by an improved team this season. Breaking onto the scene last year scoring about 18 a night, the junior was a bucket as a freshman. I wouldn’t be surprised to see that number take a substantial jump this winter.
