Let’s take a look at some of the players that are or have the potential to be double/double performers consistently throughout the next year.
Lexington HS Senior Forward Alex Holt: He was one of the leading rebounders in the state last season as he averaged about 14 boards a game to go along with 13 points a night. Understanding how to use his body and sneaky athletic ability to pull down rebounds are some of the reasons he’s been successful when it comes to rebounding the ball and we only expect him to improve this season. Don’t be surprised to see him in the 20/20 range if he fully is dedicated and locked in night in and night out this year.
Community Christian Sophomore Forward Eric Wynn: The upside that this young man has to be special is clear without a doubt, we have seen him match up with players that are 3-4 years older than him and he’s played at a high level. Playing physical inside the paint but also a skillset that allows him to make plays on the perimeter, Wynn is the type of dual threat player that colleges will love.
Purnell Swett Senior Forward Xavier Jones: One of the smaller players on this list at about 6’3, he doesn’t allow that to hold him back from being an outstanding rebounder. Last season he averaged 18 and 12 a night, using his strength and athletic ability to pull down boards at a high rate. Schools at the JC level should already be giving him a call as he could possibly need to go this route from two years before attending a four year program.
Washington County Senior Guard Deandre Downing: Any time you have a guard of his height, which is about 6’6, with a long wingspan, then you shouldn’t be surprised that they have the ability to rebound the ball well. That’s the exact case for Downing as he was outstanding rebounding the ball last season at 12 boards a night to go along with 13 PPG. Don’t be shocked to see him do some of the same this season which should only help him boost his recruitment.
West Columbus Junior Forward Brandis Kelly: The multi-sport athlete that is already picking up big time interest for football, is a beast on the basketball court as well. He averaged 12 & 12 last season and was a huge part of why West Columbus was able to make a nice run in the state playoffs at the end of the year.
West Brunswick Senior Forward Jadyn Parker: He had somewhat of a slower start to the season last year but as the year went on, his production reached another level and he was able to get in the double/double per night club. This season should be much smoother for him as he has already finished his recruitment process and will be following up a summer where he played well and caught the attention of many.
