We got a chance to see almost everyone at the Expo and here’s a look at some of the other Classes of 2022 and 2023 prospects that we haven’t written about yet:
(listed alphabetically)
Keshav Anand (2022 Westview) – When we’ve seen Anand in the past, he impressed us with his ability to knock down mid-range jumpers. At the expo, the 6-foot-4 lefty was aggressive taking the ball to the basket. He fought hard on the glass as well.
Forrest Reyes (2022 Life Christian) – Obviously listed at 5-foot-6, Reyes isn’t very tall. But like most small guys the sophomore is quick and he also showed the ability to hit perimeter jumpers. Paired with Blake Lambert, Life Christian should have a backcourt that gives opponents fits.
Christian Rowell (2022 Mountainside) – We noted Rowell in our Top Shooters piece and there’s no doubt that he attracts attention with great size on the wing at 6-foot-6 and his lefty stroke. He seemed a little allergic to the paint at the event but that should improve as he gains strength and confidence.
Donatello Tupper (2022 Roosevelt) – One of the top athletes of any class at the Expo, Tupper continues to develop his all-around game. The 6-foot-4 sophomore lefty was confident with his penetration moves and finished a few floaters for good measure. There’s no doubt Roosevelt will be expecting big things out of him this year.
Ty Weiskind (2022 Churchill) – Weiskind was an intriguing prospect as he was very skilled and at 6-foot-2 it doesn’t appear he appears to be finished growing. He knocked down some open shots and wasn’t afraid to mix it up when necessary. He’s behind a very talented group of seniors at Churchill but he’s one to watch for the future.
Jalen Childs (2023 Life Christian) – We were immediately blown away by Childs with his size at 6-foot-3 and athleticism as it’s clear he’s more physical mature than his age would indicate. He was extremely aggressive in attacking the basket and absorbed contact – one time getting slammed to the floor on a brutal non-call. But Childs got right back up and back on the floor. He’s certainly one to keep an eye on especially at 1A Life Christian.
Robert Rean Jr (2023 Skyview) – Rean was the only participant from Washington at the expo. He was smallish at 5-foot-9 but he certainly held his own in the action that we saw, confidently handling the ball and hitting a few shots from distance.
