With VMI and Radford in attendance to check out a few of their players, the Eagles showed their talent in scrimmages as well as drill work. The team has a new look due to the graduation of a few players as well as having multiple talented prospects transferring in.
2022 Guard Jaquantae Harris: The potential he has to be special is very clear, he’s a freakish athlete with a nice overall skillset. Can break down his man in the half-court to get buckets but really shows what he can do in transition settings. Look for Harris to be mentioned as one of the better 2022 guards in the state before it’s all said and done.
2020 Wing Reggie Raynor: Has a much improved jumpshot to go along with the athletic ability that we already knew he had. Physique wise he’s advanced for his age and looks like he’s already spent some time in a college weight-room. His work ethic is something that we have been impressed with over the years as well as his competitive nature.
2021 PG Emmanuel Sepulveda: Impressive end to end speed and passing ability, he will be one that should see a much elevated role this season. Pushing the pace of the offense and applying constant pressure on the defensive end are things you will see from him, both coaches in attendance seemed quite impressed.
2020 Guard Jay Hickman: He transfers in from Terry Sanford after a very good year for the Bulldogs averaging about 13 PPG. His perimeter shooting is one of the main attributes that he brings to the table but he also can play some PG. One of his underrated traits is the ability he has to defend, he has a long wingspan which can cause trouble for guards that may be smaller than him.
2021 Forward Yohan Axel: One of the taller players on the squad, he will take over some of the rebounding responsibilities and it seems like he’s ready for the task. 6’5 with solid frame and being pretty agile helps with the possibility of him being able to rebound at a nice rate.
2022 Wing Christian Thompson : He played on the JV squad last season and performed well but will look to make an impact on the varsity level this season. Decent size for a player that is at the guard/wing spot and a nice feel for the game, he seems to be a player that will be worth keeping an eye on.
