Nathan Jean-Pierre 5’9 2022 Palma HS (Salinas Ca)
A pass first point guard, who can create his own shot off the dribble with his quick burst and effective first step. He can finish with either hand, and has good court vision as he looks to set up teammates for open looks. He changes directions quick, and has a good stop and go move. He had some success on his mid range and 3pt shots. His good lateral movement on defense makes it difficult for ball handlers when he’s locked in.
Cole Webster 6’5 2022, Jesse Bethel (Valejo Ca)
This long arm prospect with a good shooting form dropped 3’s in the corner. He showed his ability to attack the rim from the wings and baseline. He made an effort to fill the lanes in transition. His rebounding is okay, but he should’ve gotten more with his long reach. He lead the transition break with good passing and decision making. His defense was effective because of his length and ability to take up space in the passing lanes and get deflections.
Isaiah Minor 6’2 2022, Woodside HS, (Woodside Ca)
This combo guard played consistent basketball all the games I observed (3). He demonstrating his ability to score with mid-range jumpers and 3pt shots from the corner and wing. His baseline drives were effective, and he showed he can be an effective guard in the post area with his ability to post up and rebound.
Jordan Lee 5’11 2023, Bishop O’Dowd HS (Oakland Ca)
This lefty started out trying to do too much, but soon settled in and became an effective player. His ball handling skills are in line with other point guards. He did a good job of having patience and balancing the floor in the half-court. He had good hard drives using his crossover move to attack the basket, and he looks to get his teammates involved early. He showed his ability to run the pick and roll effectively, and he had good lift on his mid range jumper. He pushes the ball fast up court in transition.
Derek Sangster 6’4 2023, Archbishop Mitty HS (San Jose Ca)
A long wiry prospect, who forced a number of turnovers with his long reach. He didn’t score a lot, but when he did it was by moving without the ball, slashing to the basket , and in transition. He did score getting the offensive rebound and going back up for the finish, and had some success with the drive from the wings. His offensive game is still developing.
Tyler Harris 6’5 2023, Newark Memorial HS (Newark Ca)
Many of the prospects in the class of 2023 are still growing and developing their bodies. This prospect is athletic, active and kind of bouncy. He got himself a dunk because of his willingness to run the floor in transition. His ball handling skills are raw, but he did have some success leading the break. His activity on the boards were noticeable, and he did manage to block some shots. He has time to develop.
