We saw players that will be heading to the 9th grade, getting a chance to compete with rising seniors and some of the better juniors in the state. With that being said, this gave us the chance to see some of the players who could possibly have breakout seasons or be contributors for their teams at a pretty good rate.
Forsyth Country Day School 2023 Guard Will Gray: The son of a coach who we got the chance to see during Triad First 48 has a chance to be a very special player before it’s all said and done. He doesn’t allow himself to be rushed into plays, but gets to his spots using his ball handling and speed at a pretty efficient rate, which opens up the opportunity to showcase his three point shooting skills as well. One of the more impressive things we liked about him was his work ethic, he doesn’t play AAU basketball but instead is just working on his game and getting better.
Cape Fear HS 2023 Tremayne Parker: The younger brother of current NC A&T Guard Kwe Parker is creating some buzz of his own as we have seen saw some flashes of his talent. The leaping ability must be in the bloodline as he is a high flyer like his older brother was, throwing down dunks in transition and attempting some in traffic. The highlights is what gets the attention of the fans but he has more to his game than just jumping ability, he shows ballhandling skills, shooting ability and stellar passing. If he can stay focused on and off the court, the potential that he has in his game is absolutely scary!
Cannon School 2023 Guard Prashant Hill: Another young prospect that has a chance to be a special prospect and will be one to keep an eye on over the next few years. He plays the game at his own pace and does a nice job of picking his spots all while playing the game in a very unselfish manner, at about 6’4 he has the size of a college guard already as a freshman.
Southern Middle 2023 Guard Jordan Vick: His potential to be a special prospect is very clear, he’s small in stature due to his age but the talent he displays is very impressive. He quick and crafty, using his speed and outstanding ball handling skills to blow by defenders and force the defense to collapse.
Pine Forest 2023 Guard Isaiah Washington: Another player with a high amount of talent and potential in his game, he has the size at the guard spot that makes you intrigued as well as being pretty cool and calm regardless of what’s going on. His outside shooting ability as well as his touch inside the paint are both areas that he has shown to be advanced in and he has plenty of the tools to be an outstanding defender as well.
