Ilyaas Harris 6’0″ Cardinal Ritter: A crafty and creative point guard who was getting buckets and dishing out dimes throughout the showcase. He loves to run the pick and roll and he operates well with his ability to get downhill for layups, stop at the mid-range or knock down a step-back 3-pointer. He also delivered some nice passes through traffic to open teammates.
Wuyna Brown 5’10″ St. Mary’s: The impressive young point guard had an excellent day as he displayed playmaking ability as well as his normal bucket-getting prowess. He has excellent escape moves and can create his own shot at almost any time and the jumper his butter. With that being said, he has also embraced the passing and being able to set up teammates on a regular basis.
Demarcus Sanford Jr Demarcus Sanford Jr 6'2" | PG St. Louis Christian | 2021 State MO 6’2″ Lift for Life: The long and rangy point guard was a playmaker at both ends of the court. When he sits down and really uses his length, he can be a very disruptive defensive player. He is a very good 3-point shooter, but he has continued to improve in all facets of his game from his facilitating and playmaking. His ability to attack the basket has improved as he’s gotten stronger.
Preston Fortner 5’9″ Francis Howell: A speedy point guard who displayed his overall quickness throughout the day. He was very good in transition as he pushed the tempo and had a nice top and pop jumper in transition. His pace was fast, but he did it under control and made good decisions with the basketball. His 3-point shooting was also on point.
Marcus Pepper 5’9″ Granite City, IL: One of the best push guards in the event, the quick lefty was playing at a fast tempo throughout the day on both ends of the court. He was a one man fast break and he was able to get into the lane to create offense for himself or open teammates. He also used his quickness to be a willing and good on-ball defender.
Kyle Conkright Kyle Conkright 5'10" | SG Ellington | 2021 State MO 5’11″ Ellington: The small-school standout played with a lot of confidence as he displayed his nice stroke from 3-point range throughout the day. He is a very good shooter off the catch, but he is also fearless when he attacks the basket off the dribble. He had some good takes to the basket where he used his strength to finish on his drives.
Isaiah Johnson Isaiah Johnson 6'2" | PG Battle | 2021 State MO , Jr. 5’9″ McCluer North: A pass-first point guard who zooms up and down the court with excellent pace with a swivel on his head. He gets into traffic and can drop some nice dimes through traffic to his bigs for easy layups. He’s small, but he is also physically strong enough to score in the lane through contact.
Levi Banks 5’11″ Pattonville: This young man was impressive at the Maryville Elite Camp, which was the first time I saw him and he was good on Saturday as well. I like how he is able to change speeds and change directions while still advancing towards to the basket to make plays. His passing and ball handling skills are good and he can make shots off the dribble. He will also sit down and play good defense.
Gary Morris 5’11″ Carnahan: A quick and strong point guard who I saw for the first time and was very impressed with his passing and decision making. He displayed good leadership capabilities while on the floor and was a solid ball handler with the ability to penetrate into the lane.
