1.) Frank Bierman, Tipton (12.6 rebounds per game)
Bierman is a well-built, 6-5 forward with broad shoulders and great hands, and he used those skills to lead 2A in rebounding last season. An athletic big man who runs the floor well, he shot 57.7% from the floor for the Tigers last year.
Cooper Dejean
2.) Cooper Dejean, OABCIG (11.3 rebounds per game)
The best player in 2A, Dejean led the Eagles in scoring, rebounding, assists and blocks last season and will be asked to do much more for a group that doesn’t return anyone who scored more than 13 points last season. An explosive athlete, he plays above the rim and uses that leaping ability to compete on the glass on both ends of the floor.
3.) Cannon Butler, Columbus Catholic (10.0 rebounds per game)
The Sailors won just two games last year, but the 6-5 senior forward was a bright spot, averaging a double-double. And he was especially good in those two wins, averaging 18.5 points and 12.5 rebounds.
4.) Carter Bussanmas, Interstate 35 (9.9 rebounds per game)
Bussanmas isn’t much of a scorer, averaging just 8.4 points a game last year, but don’t be surprised to see him averaging a double-double this season following the graduation of three of the top four scorers from last year’s Roadrunners roster.
5.) Tony Davidson, Van Buren (9.7 rebounds per game)
Davidson was particularly effective on the offensive glass, pulling down 3.3 offensive rebounds a night for the Warriors.
Caleb Delzell
6.) Caleb Delzell, Camanche (9.6 rebounds per game)
Probably the most important non-Cooper Dejean player in 2A, Delzell, a 6-6 point guard, led the Indians in rebounding and assists last year, while also averaging 14.7 points a game. The pace setter for the team that we have ranked #1 in 2A to start the year, look for a huge year on both ends of the floor from this talented senior lead guard.
7.) Ryan Hurd, Cherokee (9.1 rebounds per game)
A 6-6 playmaking wing, Hurd led the Braves in scoring and rebounding last year, while also finishing second in assists. He’s a threat to lead the break after pulling down a board, which makes him different than most players on this list.
8.) Blake Hall, Underwood (8.8 rebounds per game)
Despite being listed at just 6-1, Hall was great on the glass last year, and he also led the team in assists, showcasing his versatility.
t9.) Lucas Lorenzen, Okoboji (8.7 rebounds per game)
Lorenzen put together one of the most productive freshman seasons we’ve seen, averaging 15.4 points and 8.7 rebounds a game for the Pioneers last year, a team that should be much improved this year.
t9.) Nathan Lindsay, Clarinda (8.7 rebounds per game)
Lindsay led the Cardinals in scoring and rebounding last season, with his 71 offensive boards almost eclipsing his next teammate’s total rebounding last year (81).
