Performer of the Week: Dylan Wiggins, Clippers
This weeks’ top performer is from the best team in the J.D. Lewis High School. 2022 Dylan Wiggins put together 20-point and 17-point outings against the Spurs and the Lakers in two victories for the Clippers. The Clippers currently have a record of 8-0 after escaping with a 65-61 overtime victory over the Lakers. Wiggins put up 17 points and gathered a number of boards for his squad, which has been his forte in the league this year. Wiggins showed off his ability to finish tough around the rim and battle down low. He was a stud in Week 4.
Team of the Week: Heat
The Heat put up a season-best 108 points in a 108-58 blowout victory of the Spurs in Week 4. Led by a trio of 2020 Bradley Williams, 2021 Stefon McLeod and 2023 Will Otto, the Heat ran away with things in their second game of Week 4. Williams posted 29 points, Otto poured in 26 points and McLeod finished with 20 points as the Heat put their record at 7-1 on the season with playoffs beginning next week. They close out the regular season against the Warriors next week.
The Lakers/Clippers game didn’t disappoint
A lot of games came down to the wire in Week 4 and the Lakers/Clippers game was no exception. The Lakers played big despite not having 2021 forward Dante Kiesenhofer but in the end, the Clippers prevailed 65-61 in overtime. It was the Clippers second overtime game of the season after going to double-overtime against the Spurs last week. 2022 point guard Dakota Gordon led the way for his squad with 18 points on five made 3-pointers. For the Lakers, they were paced by 2022 Nick Graves, who posted 22 points while making five 3-pointers. Don’t be surprised if these two teams meet down the road in the playoffs.
Silas Demary Jr. goes for 40
Another big performer from Week 4 was 2022 Silas Demary Jr.. Demary missed the last four games in the league due to injury, but in his return, it looked like he hadn’t skipped a beat. He put up 40 points, 18 in the first half and 22 in the second half as the Cavaliers got their fifth victory in league play. Demary got to the free-throw line, scored five 3-pointers and got to the rim whenever he wanted in yet another impressive performance.
The Wizards get their first victory
The Wizards came into Week 4 winless on the season at 0-6 but they got their first victory in pool play with a 74-65 victory over the Celtics. The Wizards were shorthanded with just four players, but that didn’t stop 2020 guard A.J. Thompson from getting hot. He finished with 37 points and three made 3-pointers as his squad got a notch in the win column, finally.
