White County guard Grant Slatten popped in June. Tennessee Tech offered him after a stellar camp. Now, many other D1 coaches are getting a glimpse.
“I had several colleges come to visit, so that is exciting,” shared Grant Slatten recently
Morehead State Assistant Coach Scott Combs dropped by mid-September.
Valparaiso
Valparaiso needs to sign a huge 6+ person class in 2021, so Grant could easily draw an offer. Even the tall, talented, driven wing was a less attractive basketball prospect, he would be worthy of an offer from Valpo. The Crusaders are a better than average Missouri Valley Conference team. Valpo finished 6-12 and 7-11 in the conference the last two years.
In my opinion, Grant Slatten will eventually gain offers from the “level” of all OVC, MVC, MAC teams.
Western Kentucky
Western Kentucky University Associate Head Coach Phil Cunningham dropped by September 13th to speak with Grant. WKU is having fantastic recent success in the state of Tennessee. They convinced and signed the best point guard in the Class of 2019 Jordan Rawls. This was a major accomplishment for the Conference U.S.A. program.
The WKU program is growing in prominence in the state of Tennessee at-large and Kentucky too.
Chattanooga
Chattanooga sent an assistant coach out last week to see Grant Slatten. Chattanooga is a nice level for Grant’s talents. He could thrive as a dominant multi-year starter for University of Tennessee Chattanooga.

Belmont
In conflict with the other programs on this list, Belmont sent their head coach out to evaluate Grant this month. Casey Alexander moved up from Lipscomb to Belmont this year and he leaves the best or second-best Lipscomb recruiting class behind. For his future success, it doesn’t matter. He is a wonderful recruiter ready to recruit even more talented players to his new position.
Grant Slatten falls into that category. He will be a staggeringly effective offensive weapon at the next level.
The Game of Grant
Slasher, shooter, rebounder. Grant gets to the rim like a Tasmanian Devil. His thirst to score and finish the basketball gets quenched often, but his body movements suggest an uncommon desperation. Maybe the most attractive aspect of Slatten’s game is this hunger, this ferocity.
Beyond the obvious literal value as a scorer, Grant’s hungry style of play proves contagious.
Grant Slatten is now known mid-major college basketball prospect. Likely, he will soon attract campus visit invitations from high major schools.
