Things change and shift opinions pretty often, my predictions made a couple of months ago are most likely different from what they are now as I’ve had more time to be around the players and evaluate them further.
State Championship Favorite: Millennium
Millennium is bringing back a ridiculous amount of talent and they even brought more in. They have two transfers, both from Texas, that will really help out Millennium. It’s not like Millennium needed a ton of help so this just adds fuel to the flame. DaRon Holmes and Justus Jackson return to lead their team on another journey. Both have improved a ton this summer and are looking like one of the best duo’s in state. The sky is the limit with this team, I would not be shocked to see them winning state easily this year.
State Championship Runner-Up: Ironwood
While I think that Millennium is the clear favorite, I think Ironwood has the best chance to stop them. We all know how crazy their playoff game was last year, ending in a one point victory off of a lane violation. That shows how close these two teams are and Ironwood has added some transfers of their own. They have two transfers at the center position, adding some much needed size to the Ironwood roster. In my opinion, Ironwood’s backcourt outplayed Millennium’s last year but DaRon Holmes absolutely killed them due to a lack of size. Now they have two centers that can potentially slow Holmes down a bit. That makes things interesting.
