And that’s especially the case for the Class of 2023 backcourt players.
Among the standouts at the Showcase (held in the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church gymnasium) were a multitude of freshmen guards who are expected to be in attendance at Lynwood High Saturday and Sunday for the Frosh/Soph Camp.
Some of those included 6-foot-4 Dusty Stromer (Notre Dame in Sherman Oaks), Kylan Boswell (Colony), Jared McCain (Corona Centennial), Tyler Rolison (St. Bernard), Benny Gealer (Rolling Hills Prep) and Amir Hughes (Murrieta Valley).
Stromer (17) and Hughes (16) combined for 33 points, while Boswell, McCain and Gealer chipped in with 13, 11 and 10, respectively, to help their team win, 87-52, in the Top 20 Frosh game.
Leading the way for the losing team was 6-7 Xavier Edmonds (Bishop Montgomery), with 11 points.
Stromer had a strong summer with the Notre Dame varsity and will team with sophomores Brandon Perez and Ben Shtolzberg to make up one of the better “all-underclass” perimeters in Southern California.
Boswell (PICTURED) moved from the Chicago in August and – during the Hoops by Skills Summit, Pangos/Kenny Smith Lead Guard Camp and here – has wasted little time in showing why’s he is one better backcourt prospects in this regional class.
