I pulled up to the Spring Valley Fall League to catch week 3. In this article PH takes a look at some of the players that impressed.
Amar James 6’3 PG Spring Valley 2020 (#46 PHN 2020) – James was a flamethrower. At one point he made 8 straight 3’s. I repeat at one point he made 8 straight 3’s. He’s so good it’s frustrating. At times you see why he’s a big time player. Great build, willing passer and obviously a knock down shooter. Today he was clearly head and shoulders above everyone on the floor, now can he do it consistently?
Zach Jefferson 6’1 SG Shadow Ridge 2021 – This kid’s under the radar. I don’t know what happened from beginning August to late September, but I don’t remember Jefferson playing like this at all this past summer. He says he was hurt, I believe him. He go! Had his – mid range working, knocked down open shots, and showed the ability to play both backcourt positions. The season can’t get here fast enough.
Ethan Speaker 6’6 SF Boulder City 2021 (#20PHN 2021) – Looks like Speaker’s going to pick up a couple buckets off backdoors alone. Moved well without the ball. He also showed his shooting and ability to create off the bounce. I’m convinced I’m looking at a D1 guy.
Jaycob McBath 6’0 PG American Prep Academy 2021 – All summer I heard about Jayob McBath. His coaches serving as his hype men. They weren’t lying. McBath is more of a combo, however he understands how to run P&R offense. He was patient, and made defenders pay regardless of their decisions.
John Jenkins 6’8 C American Prep Academy 2020 – Every time Jenkins walks into a gym he will be under scrutiny. He just looks the part. Long rangy athlete. Runs the floor well and has a decent offensive game. Today he brought effort and energy. When he plays with this type of motor, he’s a problem.
John Board 6’1 PG Basic 2021 – John Board highlights the depth of the class of 2021. He was dope. Nice handle, He was able to get to the rim and finish through contact. Good slasher that made plays for himself and teammates.
