Recently I pulled up to the Spring Valley Fall League. Have to admit, I was extremely impressed. Well organized, great facility, and quality programs. In this article PH takes a look at some of the players that impressed in week 1.
Kade Madsen 6’2 SG Palo Verde 2020 (PHN #21 C/O 2020) – Madsen is a player. 6’2 man among boys. Sneaky good athlete. He missed a bunch of dunks, however he showed great quick twitch ability and explosiveness. He gets off the floor and can get up! Played hard, yet under control. Within 5 minutes of sending out a tweet about Madsen, a college coach looked up his film, and was instantly interested.
Zach Jefferson 6’2 SG Shadow Ridge 2021– Check off Shadow Ridge as a school I have to go see this season. Zach Jefferson is a potential prospect. Good sized combo guard. He put his whole repertoire on display. Knock down shooter, quick first step. He was impossible to stay in front of all game. I saw a lot of Jefferson in the summer, and was never really impressed, however after learning that he battled through nagging injuries, and the fact that he averaged over 18ppg last year on the JV team, my interest was quickly piqued.
Xakime Milton 5’9 PG 2021 Centennial (PHN #35 2021) – Xakime is starting to rise on my board. Lighting quick PG with handles. IMO he is the key to a successful season for Centennial. If he can prove to make good decisions and protect the ball, it will free up all the shooters on that team.
Chris Dockery 6’5 SG 2021 Bonanza – Dockery is a good looking prospect. Two way player, with length and athleticism. He just needs to get more exposure. Coaches all over the country are looking for players just like this. One of those talented athletes that can do a little bit of everything. What makes him different is the fact that he combines that skill – set with high level run and jump ability.
Matt Morton 6’5 PF 2021 Boulder City – Morton has good size. He can handle it and is an improving shooter. He’s most valuable grabbing rebounds and finishing around the basket. Intriguing prospect. Needs to add a little more consistency in his shooting, but if he does, look for him to have a big season.
Kendall Burrell 6’0 PG Bonanza 2020 (PHN #29 C/O 2020) – The Bonanza Boulder City game was the last game of the session. It was dripping with prospects. Kendall Burrell is a lethal PG. He has a quick trigger and was comfortable in catch and shoot or rhythm dribble situations. He’s a pure point guard, but has a scorer’s mindset. He was one of the leading scorers in the state last season.
Ethan Speaker 6’6 SF Boulder City 2021 (PHN #21 C/O 2021) – I visit fall leagues to watch prospects like this. Speaker has a college ready frame and skill – set. Tall wing shooter with explosive athleticism. Speaker scored off of a variety of lobs, and dunks along with splashing several 3’s. Currently receiving interest from UT-San Antonio, UNLV and SUU.
