As we prepare for another year, be on the lookout for the upcoming Top 250 Expos in your region. In the mean time, the staff will be hitting you with several preseason nuggets. Here is a brief look at five of the best three-and-D wings you will find locally.
TYMU CHENERY | 6’6 SF | EPISCOPAL ’20
Chenery is not only a threat to light it up from long range, but he can guard a variety of different positions as well. His versatility is an essential part of what Episcopal does. Chenery is just as good at protecting the rim as he is moving his feet and staying in front of the ball on the perimeter.
CASHEUS COVINGTON | 6’3 G | ARCHBISHOP CARROLL ’20
Left-handed sharpshooter Casheus Covington clearly takes pride defensively which is commendable. He’s often seen picking up his man full court and making him work to get the ball across the timeline.
MILTON MATTHEWS | 6’2 G | ROCK CREEK ’20
Matthews is considered an elite shooter in the area, but one thing that could go unnoticed is how aggressive he is defensively. He’s strong, quick, and athletic enough to make opponents uncomfortable on a consistent basis.
JORDAN OATES | 6’4 SF | ATHOLTON ’20
Oates initially stood out as a potentially elite defender with a strong base, long arms, and good lateral mobility. More recently we saw him knock down the three ball regularly. If he can continue to do this, Oates will continue to climb the ladder and solidify himself as a bonafide three-and-D player.
MOHAMED TOURE | 6’6 SF | SANDY SPRING ’21
Toure can definitely hit the three ball and is one of the best athletes on this list. With his intriguing blend of size and athleticism, he could become a potentially elite defender as he continues to grow into his body.
