As we prepare for another year, be on the lookout for the upcoming Top 250 Expos in your region. In the mean time, the staff will be hitting you with several preseason nuggets. Here is a rundown of five bigs who’ve shown they can distribute the ball well on a consistent basis.
HUNTER DICKINSON | 7’1 C | DEMATHA ’20
Dickinson has long been considered one of the best passing bigs in the country. Listed at over 7’0, he towers over the court which he scans quickly in order to deliver timely and accurate passes to his teammates. Dickinson commands double and triple teams on a regular basis, but he is able to keep the defense off balance on a consistent basis with his impressive court vision.
PRESTON HOWARD | 6’6 F | MCDONOGH ’22
One of the first thing you will notice about Howard when watching him play is that he displays above-average court vision and passing skills for his position. He’s very unselfish and efficient with the ball. We’ve seen this from Howard in both the high school and grassroots settings.
TEGRA IZAY | 6’10 C | ARCHBISHOP CARROLL ’20
Izay is not the most polished big man you will find just yet, but his ability to distribute the ball from the post is quite commendable. He sees the court well given his size and is an exceptional outlet passer upon securing a defensive rebound.
JAMEL MELVIN | 6’9 F | POTOMAC SCHOOL ’20
Melvin is a high IQ forward with a very nice feel for the game. He is always looking for the open man despite the fact that he is a capable scorer both inside and outside of the paint.
RASHAUDE OHIOKPEHAI | 6’6 F | SURRATTSVILLE ’20
Ohiokpehai led all bigs who participated during the Capitol Hoops Summer League in assists. He’s got a fantastic skill set for his size and clearly enjoys involving others.
