This year’s roster was once again filled with talented prospects. For this series, I’ll be taking a look at the standouts from each position. Let’s take a look at the standout wings.
Quinton Mincey | 6’6 | ’20 Eleanor Roosevelt
Mincey pleased the crowd with his array of dunks throughout the afternoon. The Mount St. Mary’s commit took every opportunity he could to exude his athleticism whether it was by him dunking or chasing down a player in transition for a block. He competed well and also did a nice job of finding open teammates once getting into the paint.
Max Brooks | 6’6 | ’20 St. Charles
This was my first time seeing Brooks live and I was impressed. He has tremendous length at 6-foot-6 and utilizes it when attacking the rim and finishing over defenders. His offensive skill set on the perimeter is still raw, but with transferring to St. Charles, he’ll develop those skills quickly. Brooks finished effectively in transition and ran the floor consistently. On defense, that length came back into play with contesting shots both around the rim and the perimeter.
Tyrae Washington | 6’7 | ’20 Takoma Academy
Washington had to be on the top 10 list for players who had the most productive outings on Saturday. It didn’t matter if it was in drills or the game portion, the 6-foot-7 Takoma Academy standout scored strongly around the rim and showed determination defensively. Washington certainly has an equipped foundation to become a really nice wing prospect at the next level.
Michael Katsock | 6’6 | St. Alban’s
Katsock would be considered more as a guard for the next level, but he played the wing position for his respective team this past Saturday. Nevertheless, the 6-foot-6 St. Alban’s standout was the definition of efficient both as a shooter and decision maker. What I like most from Katsock is he doesn’t play outside of his game. He knows his strengths and sticks to them. He moves very well off the ball and is always ready to catch and shoot. He filled the lanes well and as a result, was the beneficiary of many kick-out three’s on the break.
Isaac James | 6’8 | ’20 St. Frances
I believe James will be an ideal versatile four at the next level and he helped cement that even further on Saturday. His ability to dominate the glass and lead the break on his own is a skill set you don’t come across often for someone James’ size. He was a main reason his team was winning throughout the afternoon. Not only did he score efficiently around the rim, but James made excellent decisions as the ball handler in transition that led to buckets for his teammates.
