With that in mind, here’s a look at some of the top forwards in Class AA for this upcoming season:
Andrew Morgan, Waseca
Morgan is one of the top prospects in the 2021 class and one of the big big men in Class AA. He put up 16 points and 11 rebounds per game as a sophomore for a Waseca team that made the AAA state title game and continued his ascension with a monster summer on the AAU circuit. He’s mobile, explosive, highly active and skilled. He’ll terrorize Big South competition and big men all over the state for the next two years.
Will Tschetter, Stewartville
Tschetter is right up there with Morgan when it comes to elite big men in the 2021 class. At 6-foot-8, he’s got a rare inside-outside scoring ability and a relentlessness that allows him to produce consistently no matter how much attention he’s getting. He just wrapped up an awesome summer playing AAU with MN Heat. The Tigers will always be dangerous with him manning the middle.
Jacob Streit, Eden Valley-Watkins
Streit was an anchor on the defensive end for a very good EVW squad a year ago and with some of the top scoring options gone to graduation, it’ll be his team. One of the best finishers at the rim in the state, Streit has the mobility and athleticism to be a terror as a screener and rim-runner. He showed an expanding skillset as a shooter and passer over the summer as well. Expect big things from him over the next two years.
Wyatt Frank, Fairmont
Fairmont always seems to produce solid big men and Frank’s been the latest one. Frank’s been a consistent presence for the Cardinals the last few years and he’ll be one of the best big men in the southwest Minnesota. He’s a terrific offensive rebounder, the ability to produce without demanding a ton of touches and has great footwork and skill around the rim.
Luke Schwartzhoff, La Crescent
One of the best back-to-the-basket bigs in the state, Schwartzhoff combines excellent touch and footwork with a relentless hustle and effort. His ability to pin defenders on the box allow him to score efficiently and he’s a solid mid-range shooter. He put up 16 points per game a year ago for the Lancers and he’ll be heavily featured in their offense again this winter.
