The Prep Hoops Top 250 Showcase took place this past Sunday at Fishers High School. Many players stood out and raised their stocks. I give a rundown of my top rebounders for the day below.
Top Rebounders
Julien Hunter – 6’5 – F – New Albany
Hunter made a case for being the best rebounder in the building. He was aggressive and found his way to the boards almost every time the ball went up. Hustle plays weren’t very common among players in the camp, but Hunter had his fair share of them. His ability to rebound helped him in the scoring column as he had several putbacks.
Dillon Ware – 6’6 – F – Danville
Ware’s effort on the glass payed off for him. He might have led the camp in putback scores, as he was on the offensive glass nearly every play. His effort combined with his athletic ability make him extremely tough to stop and he took full advantage of it. Ware’s rebounding ability helped open up transition opportunities for his team and showcased his ability to run the floor.
Gabe McNary – 6’8 – C – Avon
McNary’s height and wingspan made him a force on the glass. He used his size to crash to the glass and quickly find teammates in transition. McNary had several great plays on the offensive glass, getting around his defender and putting the ball back in for a score. Throughout the day teams struggled to contain McNary.
Andrew Leeper – 6’5 – F – Homestead (FW)
Leeper was one of the camps premier all around players. His ability to dominate the glass stood out throughout the day. On both sides of the ball Leeper was finding ways to come up with rebounds. On the defensive glass he was finding teammates in transition and on offense glass he was getting clean-up buckets or finding shooters.
Adam O’Dell – 6’8 – F – South Bend St. Josephs
Few players posed as much of a threat as O’Dell on the boards. He used his size to his advantage boxing out and getting to any rebound he wanted in the paint. Every time I saw O’Dell he used his rebounding ability to clean-up the glass and score or find a teammate to run in transition. His overall IQ for the game was on full display as he made several great long passes down the floor after grabbing the rebound.
Jonathan Glenn – 6’3 – F – Park Tudor
In the one game I got to see Glenn he played extremely physical and used his body to dominate the glass. Even without scoring much Glenn was able to use his hustle plays to open up opportunities for teammates and himself. He made several great rim runs for scores following defensive rebounds. Glenn is the perfect example of hustle plays eventually paying off in the scoring column.
