Class of 2021 Top 40
Brendan Terry, Crossroads
Terry might have had the best combination of power and explosive athleticism of any player in this event regardless of class. The 6-foot-6, 215-pound power forward dunked everything around the basket and thrived in the transition atmosphere of this setting.
Brendan Terry used his powerful 6-foot-6, 215-pound frame to dominate the paint in the Pangos Best of SoCal Showcase Top 40 junior game.Jalen Pitre, Gahr
Pitre continues to be one of the more intriguing long-term prospects in the area because of his rangy 6-foot-7 frame to go along with the fact that he’s still only 15 years old entering his junior season. The left handed wing is a fluid athlete with ball skills and can stretch the floor to the 3-point line.
JoJo Johnson, Westchester
Johnson, who spent time at Damien during his freshman and sophomore years, is a crafty left-handed point guard with deep and consistent range on his 3-point shot. The 6-foot-1 junior showed some improvements to his floater and finishing package, both of which will be crucial to the next two years of his high school career.
Kai Johnson, Oxnard
Johnson has undeniable upside. The 6-foot-4 wing has good length and athleticism with the ability to create for himself on the perimeter. Johnson can score in a variety of ways, whether it be a pull-up jumper in transition or a strong drive and finish at the basket.
Nicholas Arrieta, La Verne Lutheran
Arrieta showed smooth ball handling ability and high basketball IQ. The 6-foot point guard made it a point to look for open teammates when probing the lane and delivered passes on time and on target. Arrieta also showed he can keep defenses honest with his perimeter jumper.
Peter Amakasu, Balboa School
Amakasu is a versatile shooting guard who does all of the little things that help a team win. The 6-foot-3 junior made the extra pass, knocked down open 3-point shots and ran the floor with purpose in transition.
