A few sets of high school teammates on different teams were fun to watch at this event, and here are a couple of those tandems:
Jason Kimbrough & TJ Tigler – Mountain Pointe
In all likelihood, the two will be the starting guard combo for the Pride this year. Both are quick payers that have good dribbling ability and ball skills, but also shot well in this event and were pesky to opposing players (in one game even guarding each other) on defense while making good passes to teammates. They both smiled a lot and were happy for each other’s success.
Justin Shorts & Michael Batchelor – Millennium
Both ran the court and slashed when they had the ball in their hands. They played athletic styles of basketball at the wing position and preferred to attack the rim, but weren’t afraid to shoot from outside given the chance either. Both could prove good wings to complement the other talent for the Tigers in the upcoming year.
AJ Moss & Dyson Lighthall – ALA Queen Creek
Lighthall flashed some good post moves, using his strength and good footwork to get shots near the rim, while moss showed some good dribbling and passing ability from the lead guard spot. The two could make for a good pick-and-roll combination in the 2019-20 season on a team that looks to make a deep run.
