Arkansas Basketball Combine: 2020 Notes and Evals
Jaaron Harriot (6’4 170 Sylvan Hills)
Long, athletic wing that has been generating a lot of small college interest lately. Solid in several areas. Aggressive on the glass. Strong and quick defensively, causes problems for ball-handlers. High percentage mid-range shooter that can stretch it to three. Can finish above the rim.
Jahaad Junior (5’10 153 Hampton)
Very quick first step and eye popping athleticism (35 inch vertical). Love how he plays in the pick and roll. Knows when to turn the corner with a head of steam. Knows when to take a step back dribble and drill a three. Knows when to drop it off to a teammate for a dime.
Dillon Bailey (6’2 160 Bentonville West)
Stabilizing force and glue guy for any team he suits up with. Plays with consistent poise and control. Always makes the smart play. Big time shooter who can takeover a game from long range. Much more athletic than I remembered him being at Neosho in December.
Caleb Anderson (5’10 160 Batesville)
Nice lead guard from Batesville that played well at the combine. Sets up his teammates nicely and delivered some slick no-look passes. Legit shooting threat from long-range, got loose and buried a number of triples throughout the day.
Trenton Bell (6’4 180 Cave City)
Trenton is a very nice player. He was easily one of the top shooters at the combine and his size allows him to get off shots that other guys simply can’t. Elevates well. Not limited to the role of shooter and floor spacer. He gets out on the run and can get off the floor and put you in the rim when he catches you sleeping.
Connor Barnett (5’11 155 Fayetteville)
Crafty guard that plays with some swag. Loves driving it baseline and finishing on the opposite side. Knocked down some tough middy-fades. Strokes it from three.
Colton McMullin (6’0 175 Fountain Lake)
Very heads-up, scrappy player that competes every possession. Loved his effort. He was knocking down transition pull-up jumpers all day, all over the floor. Burned his defender multiple times with back-door cuts for easy lay-ups.
Michael Smithson (6’7 195 Bald Knob)
Projectable forward with great length that has some guard skills as well. Can stretch the floor with his jumper. Good array of moves off the bounce. Was able to get his defender off the floor with the shot fake and mixed it up between spins and in-and-out dribbles before finishing at the cup.
Trevion Flowers (6’1 180 Maumelle)
There’s no substitute for effort, and Trevion brought it to the combine. Takes no plays off. Relentless with a nose for the ball. If there’s a rebound or loose ball in his area, he’s coming away with it. That itself led to several easy buckets for him.
Jordan Tillmon (6’1 160 Watson Chapel)
Smooth lefty that filled it up from mid-range at the combine. Does a very nice job of gaining separation off the dribble to create quality shot opportunities. Nice step back. Nice crossover pull-up.
Brenden Honeycutt (6’7 175 Bentonville West)
Intriguing forward to keep an eye on. Tall, good frame. Really cleaned up throughout the day on the glass and did a nice job serving as a dump-off finisher and put-back specialist after an offensive board.
