Loyola Academy’s Scotty Dean led things off in the 11am game with a three-point buzzer beater from the corner to beat Maine West 51-50. Michael Crimmins on North Carolina, which went 2-0 on the day, dominated with a day high 25 points and followed up with 15 in a second game in Frosh/Soph League play. In the Varsity League, Kamron Stringer of Kansas led all scorers with 21 points in a losing effort for his team against Chicago United. All schedules and statistics can be found at ALL IN’s website
VARSITY HIGHLIGHTS: Week 2
Chicago United (Texas) 56 Wheeling 54
In their first game of the fall league, a younger Chicago United battled back and forth with Wheeling that went down to the wire. Ahmere Carson (17) and Vernon Henry (16) led Chicago United in scoring. Wheeling received it’s own 16-point effort from Joe Jordan.
Chicago United (Texas) 68 Kansas 51
Chicago United went undefeated on the day. In game one they stormed out of the gates and put Kansas behind early despite a day high 21 point effort by Kamron Stringer of Kansas. Mylik Walker led Chicago United with 17 points, scoring inside and out, including three threes for the game while teammate Ahmere Carson scored 13 along with three more three-pointers. Chicago United hit nine threes in all.
Loyola Academy 51 Maine West 50
With 9 seconds left Scotty Dean dribbled the length of the court for Loyola Academy, passed the ball, and found himself wide open in the corner to bury a three as time expired for the win, moving Loyola Academy to 2-0. Dean scored 15 points while Maine West’s Lucas Gaister led all scorers with 16.
Maine South 53 Hoffman Estates 41
A 32- 15 lead at half proved to be insurmountable for Hoffman Estates despite outscoring Maine South in the second half. Sean Gallery led all scorers with 19 points for Maine South.
Glenbrook South 77 Chicago Lab University High 45
Leading 38-21 at half, Glenbrook South cruised to a win in Chicago Lab’s first game of the fall. Glenbrook South’s Matt Rosenberger led all scorers 18 followed by teammate Justin Leszynski’s 16. Chicago Lab was headed by Donovan’s Hackett’s 12 points.
ALL IN 64 Ida Crown 58
Conner Dalton hit five threes on his way to 19 points in the win for ALL IN. Eight players scored for Ida Crown, led by Joe Wortman’s 12.
Niles West 77 Maine East 52
Five players scored in double figures for Niles West as Aidan Flowers was the leading scorer with 16. Maine East Shiv Amin scored 14 in the loss.
FROSH/SOPH HIGHLIGHTS: Week 2
Clemson 35 Duke 32
Tied at 15 going into halftime in a back and forth contest, even Rocco Falls’ game high 14 points for Duke couldn’t give it the win over Clemson.
North Carolina 72 MIami 42
In dominant fashion, North Carolina won it’s first game of the fall league and was led by Mike Crimmins 25 points, who poured it in from all three levels.
North Carolina 64 Syracuse 30
North Carolina improved to 2-0 with another easy victory. Mike Crimmins was the leading scorer again with 15 as North Carolina had nine players contribute to the scoring.
Wisconsin 50 Michigan 36
A 27-12 deficit at half was too much for Michigan to overcome. Coner Wideman led all scorers with a game high 21 points for Wisconsin. Teammate Sean Figel followed up with 15.
Loyola Academy 48 Wisconsin 38
Loyola Academy bounced back from a tough 3 point loss to Glenbrook South last week. Big man Johnny led Loyola Academy with 11, including one from three-point range. Nine players scored for Loyola.
Illinois 92 Indiana 45
Illinois received monster 23-point performances from Conner Dalteri and Soham Sarker. Illinois hit 11 threes in which nine came from Dalteri and Sarker. Indiana’s Jack Walter led his team with 16 and Amraices Stephens scored 14.
Virginia 65 Notre Dame 58
By far one of the best games of the day, Nick Taylor led all scorers with 22 points in a win for Virginia. Teammate Antoine Thomas followed with 14 points. Notre Dame had three players score in double digits, led by Dauntrell Dixon’s 16 and Jeremiah Mason’s 14.
Notre Dame 60 Georgia Tech 38
Notre Dame bounced back to .500 and was once again led by Jeremiah Mason who scored a game high 17points. Jack Tzur, who scored 10 against Virginia, followed Mason with 13 points in this game.
Iowa 97 Syracuse 45
Iowa was a three away from the century mark as they dominated Syracuse from start to finish. Kay Taylor poured in a game high 23 points for Syracuse as Iowa had five players scored in double figures. Iowa was led by David Van Hoy’s 19 points and three three-pointers along with Donovan Nichols 16 points and Andrew Mann’s 15.
Glenbrook South 59 St Ignatius 41
Once again Brandon Ballarini had the hot hand for Glenbrook South leading all scorers with 17 points in the win despite great team basketball from St. Ignatius that had nine different players score.
Chicago Lab U-High 75 Ida Crown 46
Chicago Lab bounced back to go 1-1 in consecutive games. Xavier Nesbitt of Chicago Lab led all scoeres with 21 points including four three-pointers. For Ida Crown every player scored, led by Ariel Kahnrose’s 9 point effort.
