However, Hoffman Estates player Nahum Smith-Hernandez led all scorers with a 20-point effort in a win over Downers Grove South. In the Frosh/Soph league Andrew Mann was the top scorer on the day with a 23-point outing in a win for his Iowa team. All schedules and statistics can be found at ALL IN’s website
VARSITY HIGHLIGHTS: Week 3
Hoffman Estates 62 Downers Grove South 55
Hoffman Estates moved to 2-1 in a strong win over the very long and lengthy Downers Grove South. Nahum Smith-Hernandez 20-point outing was backed by Shayan Badal’s 10-points. DGS was paced by 14 pointsfrom Angelo Ognianov.
Downers Grove South 57 Chicago Lab U-High 52
Downers Grove South bounced back with their first win of the fall despite U-High’s Ben King leading all scorers with 19 points and scoring at all three levels. DGS had eight different players find the basket, led by Jake Dimovski’s 13 and Angleo Ognianov’s 12.
Glenbrook South 71 Wheeling 61
After a tough 2-point loss to Niles West last week, Wheeling came up short against GBS despite 16 points from Joe Jordan and 15 from Christian McLaughlin. For GBS, Bo Hubbard led all scorers with 21 points, including five three-pointers while Matt Rosenberger and Justin Leszynskiscored 19 each.
Maine South 68 Loyola Academy Varsity 50
A 35-16 lead at halftime by Maine South held up despite only going 50% from the free throw line. Nikola Zelenovic poured in five threes on his way to 19 points for Maine South. Casey Clark added 18 and Marko Anderson 16 to also help pace Maine South. Loyola played it’s usual unselfish offense as all eight players scored.
Maine South 48 Kansas 45
Kansas jumped on Maine South early and led at halftime 25-18, but was outscored 30-20 in the second half as Maine South came back to win by three. Marko Anderson had another strong outing for Maine South in their second game of the day with a consecutive 16 point performance. Everyone scored for Kansas, led by Kamron Stringer, who scored all 10 of his points in the second half.
Loyola Academy Sophomores 55 Maine East 42
A big win for the Loyola Academy Sophomore team taking down Maine East’s varsity squad. Loyola was spearheaded with 14 points from Ben Moser (son of Loyola-Chicago University Head Coach Porter Moser). Also, Loyola’s Dajour Stephens hit three 3-pointers on his way to 13 points.
Niles West 59 Maine West 56
Niles West has won by one possession in back to back games to remain undefeated. Daniel Prieto led all scorers with a 16 point effort including four threes for Maine West. Harris Mackic’s 14 points paced Niles West, who was without dominant big man Lucas Vidrean.
FROSH/SOPH HIGHLIGHTS: Week 3
Illinois 67 St Ignatius 48
Nehemiah Ray led Illinois with 15 points as four of their players scored in double figures in an impressive win over a very strong St. Ignatius team. Eight different players scored for St. Ignatius.
Highland Park 64 Duke 30
Eight different players scored for Highland Park in their dominant performance. Brandon Rieger led all scorers with 14 points in the win. Charlie Farrell buried three 3-pointers on his way to 11 points for Duke
Georgia Tech 48 Highland Park 43
Georgia Tech’s 21- 17 lead at half was enough to fend off some late runs by Highland Park. Four threes by Sean Goodman aided him to a 21 point game in the win.
Georgia Tech 61 Clemson 40
Georgia Tech seemed to only get stronger in its second game of the day. Gaven Marr led all scorers with 14 points. Nine different players found the bottom of the net for Georgia Tech.
Loyola Academy 65 Ida Crown 62
Playing back to back games, Loyola Academy was able to fend off a very impressive performance by Ida Crown. 20 different combined players scored in this game, as both teams unselfish style of team basketball was well on display. Tony Gotti led Loyola with 16 points while Billy Kotinbacked him with 15. Benny Albon led Ida Crown with 15 points of his own.
Hersey 53 Duke 39
Connor Lim led the pack with 15 points in the win for Hersey. Duke suffered its second loss on the day, but hit seven threes as Luke Del Valle led them with 11 points.
Hersey 71 Miami 48
Hersey buried 12 three-pointers in their win. Charlie Loeppert led all scorers with 20 points including six threes. Danny McCarthy backed up Loeppert with 17.
Iowa 67 Virginia 57
Andrew Mann scored at will inside the arc with an impressive 23 pointgame for Iowa in its win. Nick Taylor had a strong game of his own for Virginia scoring 20 including four three-pointers.
Glenbrook South 68 Ida Crown 40
Ida Crown seemed to be out of gas after their big effort against Loyola Academy. Noah Shapiro registered 22 points for Glenbrook South, doing most of his work in the paint. Brother Nathan Shapiro also scored 15 points for GBS.
Indiana 69 Michigan 59
Amarias Stephens exploded for 24 points, with 20 coming in the second half, as his Indiana team fended off Michigan for the win
