A lot of prospects made some noise over the spring and summer, but there are still some athletes out there that people are not talking enough about. Let’s be honest, kids love competition and pay attention to who is getting this offer and that offer. There will be several 2020 prospects that fly under the radar.
Kobe Simmons (Talladega)- Hard to imagine a player of the year not getting enough attention and love, but thats happened to Kobe. This kid is a 6’4 forward who can do a little bit of everything. He’s a solid athlete and can play/defend multiple positions. Coaches love guys that can play multiple positions and are super competitive. Kobe will be a steal for someone.
Titus Griffin (Covenant)- Titus is a 6’1 combo guard who can light it up from deep. This kid moves very well without the ball and does not need much room to get his shot off. Titus has improved as a playmaker, but he is at his best moving and hunting his shot. If Titus shows a complete package and improved defensive ability, he will get plenty of opportunities.
Nolan Dean (Mortimer Jordan)- Nolan is a 6’4 wing that is known for his shooting ability. He has really good size on the perimeter, and is a good enough athlete to defend multiple spots. Nolan is poised to have a big year and show people that he is more than a specialist. Shooting and perimeter size are things coaches love to have, and Nolan will be on someone’s roster at the next level.
Kane West (Lexington)- West is a very intriguing prospect. He is a 6’5 forward that can play both the 3 and 4. This kid plays with a high motor on both ends of the court, and he will do whatever his team needs in order to get the win. West battles hard on the glass, can defend 1-5, and is a good finisher. D2 and D3 programs would get a player who will develop all 4 years.
Nate Jones (Mae Jemison)- Jones is a dog. He has good length, and is a very capable defender. This kid is 6’4 and can guard all the perimeter spots. Nate has improved his shooting ability, but he is not a finished product. He is a better defender than offensive player at this point. Jones is a very good perimeter rebounder and makes the right plays in transition. He should have a larger role for Mae Jemison this season, and we expect big things.
