Jyshawn Melvin – Evans 2022: This sophomore guard stayed disciplined on defense and created some key turnovers for his squad. Not afraid at going right at defenders at the rim and finishing strong. Melvin stays calm whenever the rock is in his hands, and it paid off.
Brian Williams – Paxon 2022: “Energy” is this kid’s middle name. Williams was one of the most vocal underclassmen of the day, and definitely turned some heads with the way he handled the ball on the fastbreak and whipped it to teammates for quick scores and dunks. Can see a lot of promise in this young guard.
Jaylen Kennedy – Sandalwood 2023: Kennedy isn’t a giant in the paint standing at 5’10”, but he made life difficult for those looking to get some short shots, off. Kennedy defended extremely well on anyone looking to drive the lane or body him up on the block. Walked away with a couple blocks, early on.
Sean Combs – Osceola 2023: He may be small in stature, but it doesn’t negate how effective he is when shooting the rock. Combs was able to serve as a consistent scorer on the day, and could really be used as a boost for Osceola if he continues to develop.
Ernest Udeh – Dr. Phillips 2022: Standing tall at 6’9 and only a sophomore, Udeh, with enough development, is poised to be an absolute stud within the state and beyond. He’s a tough cover for most of the competition his age, and makes every ball-handler think twice about going into the paint. Look for him to be a key asset for Dr. Phillips.
