A little less than a month ago, he announced that he would be taking official visits to Duke, North Carolina, Tennessee, Gonzaga and Kentucky. For more information on that, follow the link here.
Paolo’s top nine includes those five schools plus Washington, Baylor, Memphis and Georgetown. While there were rumors throughout social media that Paolo would potentially be reclassifying to the 2020 class and attending college a year earlier, he mentioned in an interview that he will be staying in the 2021 class. That is good news for fans of high school basketball in Washington and it is even better news for Washington Husky fans that UW remains involved in his recruitment.
Many people in the past have assumed Paolo would attend Washington, due to both of his parents attending the school, but he is strongly considering a handful of other schools. Tennessee in particular has done a great job in their recruitment of the 5-star prospect. Banchero would be the second 5-star prospect that current Tennessee Head Coach Rick Barnes has snagged out of the Evergreen State. He also received a commitment and coached Avery Bradley when he was Head Coach of the Texas Longhorns.
Duke has some serious pull with Coach K at the helm and Kentucky is more than a serious contender with Coach Calipari. Coach Cal is a persistent recruiter and has spent a good amount of time in the PNW recruiting Jaden and now Paolo. He will visit Kentucky October 11-13.
Be on the lookout for further recruitment updates as Paolo continues to move along with the process!
