Aquan Smart (Niles North)
Previous Ranking: #20
Current Ranking: #9
Smart continues to see his stock rise in each evaluation. He boosted his stock in the spring with Pure Prep with an excellent showing at Battle at the Lakes. More of the same in June as he was dynamic running the show for his high school team at the Ridgewood Live Event. Then Smart closed out July playing for Young & Reckless with a monster outing in the Hard Work Finals. Athletic combo that lives in the lane and has really improved playing on the ball.
Alec Millender (St. Rita)
Previous Ranking: #78
Current Ranking: #57
Millender quietly flies under the radar with so many quality lead guards in the Chicago Public and Catholic League. This St. Rita point guard has a nice feel for the game with his ability to get others involved in both the half court and transition. Millender played well throughout the PrepHoops Circuit with ET21 Buckeyes, but was most effective in July as a playmaking guard that can score.
Christian Czerniak (St. Charles North)
Previous Ranking: NR
Current Ranking: #98
Czerniak had a big summer for both his high school team and with All-In Athletics. In June we saw Czerniak look good as a distributor showing his flashy passing in both the half court and transition. That continued with his play at Summer Challenge and Hard Work Finals. He helped lead his team to the Elite 8 in Minnesota behind his sweet dishes and threes.
Jamari McClendon (Hope)
Previous Ranking: NR
Current Ranking: #106
This power combo guard was the motor that made the Illinois Jaguars go. McClendon is a strong bodied scoring combo with broad shoulders that stands at 6’2”. Burst with the basketball in his hands getting to the rim. He won off the dribble at a very high rate on straight line attacks through his defenders. Plays well in the open floor as a finisher. Played at a high level with both his travel team and at the PrepHoops Prospect Showcase.
Isaiah Tolbert (Brooks)
Previous Ranking: NR
Current Ranking: #143
Tolbert has always been an intriguing player, but we just needed to see more consistency and a controlled scoring game out of him. That happened in July. Tolbert got really hot with his jumper when we saw him in Minnesota. The Brooks standout is a microwave scorer that when he gets going is a major scoring threat!
