Stephen Martin – Bishop Moore 2020: What impressed most about the 6’5” wing was his determination to try and swat EVERYTHING. Whether be it a chase-down from behind, or a block of a long jumpshot, Martin posed as a threat to the ball no matter whose hands it released, from.
C.J. Matthews – Choctaw 2020: This 6’2” guard made some strides at the Expo behind some solid shooting from beyond the arc. He was guaranteed to give his team a score, when needed. Matthews’ defense was above-par, frustrating ball-handlers who’d fall victim to a steal by him. Liked his game.
Lucas Pelt – Wiregrass Ranch 2020: This is a guy who really surprised me with his play. The effort was consistently there. The 6’3” guard was able to snag rebounds and push the break, resulting in either a score for a teammate off the assist, or a tough lay at the rim for himself. On D, Pelt is alert, and sneaky. Can come away with quick steals when you least expect it.
Ryker Swor – Riverview 2021: Ryker has this lanky, Tayshawn Prince type of build—and he knows how to use it to his advantage. Swor did a great job of challenging shooters’ jumpshots and beating defenders to the rim for solid finishes. He should be a key man for Riverview over the next couple years.
Joseph Jackson – Madison County 2021: Standing at 5’9”, Jackson was a sleeper on the floor every time he touched it. But, he showed up, and showed out. Jackson shot the ball well from three and wasn’t afraid to drive it into the lane and score in the paint. Really loved the effort on defense. “MadCo” may have a diamond in the rough with Jackson.
