Poinciana has a keeper in Corbett
2021 6’7″ Poinciana forward Jahsean Corbett was very active on the day. He has a very good frame and is a good mover inside. Corbett draws contact often and can flat out fly up and down the court, finishing as a shooter and attacker. He is a lock as a breakout junior and a Division I prospect here in the near future.
Chaminade Madonna has a long and steady duo
Nearly knocking off West Oaks, 2020 pair Andre Weir and Johnny O’Neill were making it all happen in the afternoon matchup. Weir, a 6’10” recent verbal commit to Northeastern was a load for the defense. He is a big body with rather nimble feet and he can really improve further once he tacks on more muscle. O’Neill is an impressive mid-range and outside shooter for a 6’8″ kid. He has offers from Division I USC Upstate, Division II Barry, Florida Southern and other Division II programs were there watching him closely.
Lawson is a freakish athlete for Impact Christian
Perhaps one of the best jumpers at the Hoop Exchange Fall Festival all weekend, 2021 Impact Christian 6’5″ forward Ivan Lawson was fun to watch. He finished at the rim well and proved he was tough to slow down. If he continues to add muscle, his length and burst will be a bigger problem for defenses.
Astor leads Fleming Island
Fleming Island runs through 2020 6′ guard Sebastian Astor is a crafty leader. He’s shifty, confident to the max, shoots it well and has a nice mid-range floater. Astor is flying under the radar but can play Division II/NAIA at a high level.
Riveria Prep has speed and smarts with Perez and Lluberes
Riveria Prep has a good mix of speed and smarts and guard duo David Perez and Esteban Lluberes do a lot together and can create a ton for others. Perez is a 2020 6’2″ guard who played there as a sophomore before playing at University School as a junior. He had a thundering dunk and finishes well at the rim on top of shooting a solid jumper. As for Lluberes, he’s a 2022 5’8″ guard with tremendous burst and ability to pass and slash inside.
Latimer III continues to flourish for Apopka
At Apopka, toughness is always at the forefront alongside vocal and pure athletes. 2021 6’1″ guard John Latimer III continues to impress every time I see him. He’s stronger, an intelligent shooter and has a good overall feel for the offense. Latimer III is going to have a steady junior campaign.
Ray Perry is strong for St. Pete
Built like a wrestler or boxer, 2021 St. Pete guard Ray Perry was very good in a matchup with Apopka in the early AM. He was shooting at a high clip, long 3’s and getting going off quick passes. Perry is a super strong and shifty point guard who is in for a big junior year as the man in the backcourt for the Green Devils.
