College coaches will have the opportunity to drop by high school gyms and see some of the potential prospects for their program. Over the next week we will lend a helping hand for some of the cities and schools that colleges coaches should drop by as well as some prospects they will want to see . Our first stop ? The Wilmington area.
West Brunswick HS: They have gone thru some changes in the past few months and will look different as far as players and coaches go but they will still will be a team to keep an eye on. One prospect in particular that colleges will be dropping in to see is 2020 G/F Jadyn Parker who has already picked up some D1 offers. Parker is a versatile player and at 6’8 with nice upside, you can clearly see why college coaches are excited about his potential.
Laney HS: They will have a nice group of talent and will be a school that LM and D2 programs will want to keep an eye on. New Transfer 2021 Guard Makoa Suriago is definitely a player to keep an eye on. He’s a Guard with a high IQ that can flat out shoot it and is a very coachable young man. 2020 Forward Demarcus McLaurin is another player to keep an eye on as he is coming back from a 15 Point, 9 Rebound per game season last year. He has the size, talent and upside that college coaches have to be excited about.
Pender HS: They had an impressive season last year and will look to compete for a 1A Championship this season. They name that we all know is Guard Jajuan Carr who has continued to climb the ranks over the last year. Carr is an athletic guard that can score the ball in bunches and plays the game with a certain edge to him. Pender will also feature some younger talent with 2022 G/F Jakwon Moore who has constantly been working on his game this offseason.
New Hanover HS: They have a rich tradition in basketball and although they will be young, there are still players on their squad that colleges should keep an eye on. 2020 Guard Jaheim Marshall is a smaller college prospect that you have to like . He’s crafty with the ball and is a gifted passer that doesn’t mind being coached . 2022 Guard Maleec Myers is one of the up and coming young guards in the state. He has impressive end to end speed and can score inside the paint despite his lack of height.
