As we prepare for another season, be on the lookout for the upcoming Top 250 Expos in your region. In the mean time, the staff will be hitting you with several preseason nuggets. Below is a rundown of 10 local players who’ve respectively improved and are worth tracking this upcoming season.
CHRIS ASAMOAH | 6’2 SG | MAGRUDER ’21
Asamoah hit nearly 60 threes last year, and with his older brother Ebby off to college, he will certainly get more attempts. While there will be more attention on him, he’s proven that he can take and make big shots.
Here's the shot the put the @MagruderBball into overtime with Westminster tonight. Great shot Chris Asamoah! The Colonels pull it off in OT and move on to Qfinals on Friday vs TJohnson/Linganore winner. pic.twitter.com/XppS6Y72HL

JARED CLAWSON | 5’8 PG | EDISON ’20
Clawson can absolutely fill it up from long range as we saw throughout last season during which he hit 68 threes. His quickness and ability to get downhill will keep defenders a step or two back and this will give him more than enough room to let it fly.
MARCUS DOCKERY | 6’2 G | BISHOP O’CONNELL ’20
Matt Becht’s made threes record has been a target for the young players coming up through the O’Connell program, and while it will be hard to match his efficiency, Marcus Dockery has a good shot to challenge the record for makes this year. The Maryland commit is a confident shooter with range and can make them in bunches.
MICHAEL KATSOCK | 6’5 SF | ST. ALBANS ’20
Katsock will be pegged on every team’s game plan as a dangerous perimeter threat, and it probably won’t be easy for him to get many open looks this year, but his consistency makes him a must-have on this list. He hit close to 85 threes last year and should put up similar numbers in his final high school campaign.
MILTON MATTHEWS | 6’2 SG | ROCK CREEK ’20
Matthews is probably the favorite to lead the area in made threes this year after coming in second to UVA bound Casey Morsell a year ago. Rock Creek plays at a run-and-gun pace that really suits him and he won’t lack for attempts. With that being said, Matthews is one of the most dangerous heat check guys you will find. Don’t be surprised if he hits 10 or more threes in a game this year.
