As we prepare for another season, be on the lookout for the upcoming Top 250 Expos in your region. In the mean time, the staff will be hitting you with several preseason nuggets. Below is a rundown of 10 local players who’ve respectively improved and are worth tracking this upcoming season.
CHASE BEASLEY | 6’6 SF | SSSAS ’20
As we saw throughout Capitol Hoops Summer League and on the grassroots circuit, Beasley is thriving in his role as a lockdown defender. He’s an impact player on the boards but also in the passing lanes as a result of his length and quick reactions.
JORDAN BRATHWAITE | 6’6 PF | GLENELG COUNTRY ’20
Brathwaite is a rim-runner who will thrive in transition and produce off minimal touches. His improved shot makes him more effective in the half-court game and helps him pair well with Cole Paar.
DAOUDA DEMBELE | 6’6 PF | SPRINGBROOK ’21
Dembele will be a dominant paint presence for what will be a sneaky good Blue Devils group. He should be among the area’s top rebounders this season.
JOSIAH HARDY | 6’6 F | GONZAGA ’20
Hardy will be relied upon to provide depth in the Eagles front-court. He can play several different positions and most importantly defend them.
DOWAR JIOKLOW | 6’8 PF | FLINT HILL ’20
Jioklow had a productive summer and looks ready to replicate that during the upcoming season. The Huskies will need him to lead with his words and actions but he should be up to the task.
CODY KELLEM | 6’2 SG | SOUTH COUNTY ’20
Kellem is a skilled guard with a nice looking jump shot who will pair well in the Stallions backcourt with Andre Speight. His ability to get out and run or execute in half-court sets is commendable.
CJ LEE | 6’0 G | NORTHWEST ’22
After watching him this spring and summer, it’s a safe bet to expect a breakout season from CJ Lee at Northwest. The skilled southpaw possesses an impressive scoring repertoire.
OMARI SALVI | 6’5 PF | BULLIS ’20
Salvi is still scratching the surface of his potential but looks to be on the right track after a productive summer. His ability to protect the paint as well as stretch the floor and finish inside makes him a matchup problem for most opponents.
SAGE UWEMEDIMO | 6’5 SF | BISHOP IRETON ’21
Uwemedimo is a big time athlete who has steadily improved over the years. The key for him this season will be consistency as he will be asked to do more than ever.
MYLES WEBB | 6’6 PF | WAKEFIELD ’21
Webb is a lanky forward and a crafty finisher who is likely to be an impact player for the Warriors this season. His length gives him big time defensive potential.
