As we prepare for another season, be on the lookout for the upcoming Top 250 Expos in your region. In the mean time, the staff will be hitting you with several preseason nuggets. Here is a brief look at eight dynamic duos to watch around the DMV region this year.
DEVIN CEASER & AARON JASPER | ST. MARY’S RYKEN ’21
Ceaser and Jasper are going to be a lot of fun to watch this year. They can both defend and love to get out in transition where they’re adept at getting to the rim. If Ryken hopes to make some noise this year these two will be the catalysts.
HUNTER DICKINSON & EARL TIMBERLAKE | DEMATHA ’20
Dickinson and Timberlake have developed a nice understanding over the past two seasons. Both were key figures in DeMatha’s WCAC Championship two seasons ago and are likely to rekindle some of what got them to that point. They both played well on the EYBL and are heading into this year with high expectations.
DELONNIE HUNT & MILTON MATTHEWS | ROCK CREEK ’20
Hunt and Matthews will be one of the most exciting one-two punches and a big reason why will be Rock Creek’s style of play. These two southpaws excel in transition. Hunt will look to push and find Matthews, one of the area’s elite sharpshooters, on the perimeter for easy looks.
KINO LILLY JR. & CANIN REYNOLDS | LANDON ’21 & ’20
Lilly and Reynolds a skilled duo who both have serious range. If you’re not properly prepared these two will wreck your game plan as they can both shoot it at a high clip respectively.
SESE MOBUTU & JAMES BERRY | BISHOP IRETON ’20
Mobutu and Berry are coming into their own heading into their final year of high school ball. Berry has seen a recent uptick in recruitment and Mobutu is still under-the-radar but has a chance to turn some heads if he continues to play well this season.
TRETON PICOTT & ANDRE SPEIGHT | SOUTH COUNTY ’21
Picott and Speight are both improving and coming off a strong grassroots campaign with Pro Look. Both will likely earn All-District First Team nods and be in consideration for regional player of the year. Depending on how South County performs, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see either garner State Player of the Year consideration.
RONALD POLITE & MALIK HOLLAND | OXON HILL ’20
Polite and Holland complement each other perfectly in the Clippers backcourt. Holland is a long-range sniper and Polite is a slashing lead guard with tremendous playmaking ability. They will be indispensable pieces to Oxon Hill’s success this season.
MYLES STUTE & TERRANCE WILLIAMS | GONZAGA ’20
Stute and Williams are truly a dynamic duo and have proven themselves as winners. That trend should continue as their continuity and understanding of how to play off one another is unparalleled locally.
