Millbrook: 2021 forward Will Felton
The Millbrook Wildcats went 12-0 in Cap7 Conference action in 2018-19 and return 2020 guard Nolan Dorsey, forward Jalen McCoy and 2021 forward Will Felton in the fold for 2019-20. 2020 forward Sam Hood is another prospect to keep an eye on. Out of the trio, Felton stands out as one most worthy of early Player of the Year candidacy after jumping into the starting rotation right away as a sophomore this past season.
He produced 13.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.3 rebounds per game with 12 double-doubles through 27 appearances. Felton holds an offer from Elon already and should rack up a lot more like this upcoming season.
Leesville Road: 2021 guard Carter Whitt
Leesville Road went 6-6 in conference action this past season but all that should change given the upside 2021 guard Carter Whitt has shown this past spring and summer. Whitt enters his junior season with roughly 20 Division I offers after showing off his skills as a scorer and distributor with Team Loaded North Carolina. He should look a lot more comfortable after returning to Leesville Road this past season.
Sanderson: 2020 guard Kamon Green
2020 guard Kamon Green will really need to step up as far as a Player of the Year candidate goes. Green put up 15.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.3 steals per game through 19 appearances for Sanderson in 2018-19.
In a 66-63 victory over Broughton, he put up 16 points, 12 of them coming from the free-throw line. He posted a season-high of 35 points against Village Christian Academy in an 11-of-18 shooting display as well. In his final season, look for the 5-foot-10 guard to play with an added chip on his shoulder.
Cardinal Gibbons: 2020 guard Michael Boney
2020 guards Michael Boney and Brady Whilden made up quite the backcourt this AAU season with WCBA Elite Blue. The fellow teammates are due for big seasons in 2019-20.
Boney showed an extra burst as the season progressed and was impressive at distributing and scoring the ball in their final appearance. Boney put up 7.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game this past season for Cardinal Gibbons. After a strong season on the AAU circuit, look for his improvement to play a role in team success.
Broughton: 2020 guard Naikeed Thomas
The Broughton Capitals went 9-3 in Cap7 action this past season. With their backcourt of D.J. Thomas and Tynias Peace gone due to graduation along with four other seniors, Broughton will look like a completely different team in 2019-20.
With a majority of their production gone and a new head coach at the helm (Clarence Coleman), the Capitals should have some new blood looking to lead the way for them this upcoming season. It will be interesting to see who will emerge for them. Naikeed Thomas returns as their highest contributor from a season ago.
Southeast Raleigh: 2021 guard Brone Brinson
Brone Brinson returns this upcoming season as the Southeast Raleigh Bulldogs leader in scoring (6.2 points per game) and steals per game (2.0). Brinson was one of the younger players in the varsity rotation in 2018-19 alongside freshman Teriq Rouse. With experience under his belt, he could see improved
Enloe: 2020 guard Ta’Shuad Alexander
Ta’Shuad Alexander is due for a big season for the Enloe Eagles. One of his biggest strengths is his ability to score and distribute to teammates on the break. He sees the floor well and has a quick first step on drives to the basket. He showed consistency as a junior in Enloe’s starting rotation in 2019-20. Look for him to play a bigger role this upcoming season.
