South Granville: 2020 guard Micah Jones
6-foot-3 guard Micah Jones is due for a big season with South Granville. Jones was hurt for a majority of the season but his return sparked some memorable performances. Last season during a triple-overtime victory, he posted 49 points with eight made 3-pointers while going 15-of-16 from the free-throw stripe against Vance County in a victory. He’s one experienced player to keep an eye on alongside Bobby Pettiford Jr., Wykise Allen and Kobe Jones.
Granville Central: 2021 guard Jamari Mann
Consider Jamari Mann half of the lethal backcourt duo of him and Terence Harcum Jr.. Mann was the team’s second-leading scorer this past season with 15.6 points per game while shooting from 34 percent from 3-point range. As their leading 3-point shooter, look for him to be a lot more lethal as he enters his junior season.
Louisburg: 2021 guard Elijah Jamison
Elijah Jamison is a do-it-all guard for his Louisburg High School squad. Jamison eclipsed the 40-point plateau in four different games this past season. He produced 28.5 points, 9.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.7 steals per game as one of the premier 2021 players in the class. He eclipsed the 1,000-point mark easily after putting up a total of 742 points in 2018-19. There’s more where that came from as one of the underrated prospects in the state.
Bunn: 2021 Ah’Quay Mosley
Ah’Quay Mosley returns to the Bunn High School rotation after leading the team in scoring (13.6 points per game) and rebounds (7.5 per game) in 2018-19. He’s a playmaker with the ball in his hands looking to make plays for himself and his teammates. His team upset some teams during the conference which should happen more often in 2019-20, especially with Xiaver Jones in the frontcourt.
Roanoke Rapids: 2021 wing Po’Boigh King
One of the biggest mysteries at Roanoke Rapids High School is Po’Boigh King. King has has shown quite the upside on the hardwood with the RDC Lakers on the AAU circuit and his recruitment is expected to skyrocket a lot more this upcoming high school season. He’s got a smooth game on both ends which allows him to make the game look easy.
J.F. Webb: 2021 guard Jamarion Dunkins
Despite being just a sophomore, 2021 guard Jamarion Dunkins was the unsung scoring leader for J.F. Webb in 2018-19, putting up 10.6 points per contest. It will be more of the same in 2019-20 though Dunkins will have more experience around him. J.F. Webb finished in the middle of the pack last year in the conference, don’t be surprised if they pull off more upsets.
Warren County: 2020 guard Andrew Smith
2020 guard Andrew Smith returns to Warren County as the only scorer averaging double-figures from a season ago. Smith produced 16.5 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.5 steals per game for the Eagles this past season. He’ll have 2022 forward Jay Goode back as well which should boost his assist numbers.
