With transfers, injuries and players blossoming, much could change but here is my next 8 of the 24 possible playoff teams for 6A:
Playoff home games 1st round (Play in game)
Mountain Pointe
-Strong Jr duo led by PG Jason Kimbrough Jr and big man Zereoue Williams plus one of the top Sr shooters with Miles Sulka will lead the way. Then nice complimentary pieces with Sr PG TJ Tigler, Jr F Q’Bon Sullivan, Soph G Anthony Jamarillo plus incoming freshman stud PG Mark Brown.
Brophy Prep
-A nice trio of senior forwards up front will anchor this team led by Arnold Dates, Basil Ribakare and Joe Feeney. And four PG’s will all contribute with Sr Logen Howard, Jr’s Quentin Cubulka and Kayden Davis plus Soph Miles Nash.
Desert Ridge
-One of my sleeper 6A teams this year after a rough last year. They are very balanced with some nice weapons led by Sr’s Caleb Alonso, Brennan Armijo and Ryan El Awar. Also have two talented Jr’s led by Joe Kelsey and Kaden Kennedy.
Corona del Sol
-They will be led by arguably the best Sr backcourt in 6A with Anthony Irvin and Eric Blackwell. Plus have Sr Max Feath which will form a nice group of three to compete with anyone. There sleeper for their team may be soph forward Peyton Beaur.
Mesa
-The Jackrabbits will be led by Jr PG’s Steven Cervantes Jr and Dallin Cook. Also Sr wing in Julian Jackson and stud incoming freshman Kevin Patton Jr will both make an impact.
Pinnacle
-The Pioneers are in an unusual spot. They are not the favorite this year and their football players will be their stars led by Seniors Tosh Baker, Marcus Libman and Matt Goodlow. They do have one hooper left over from their amazing team last year with senior wing Spencer Allen.
Mesa Mountain View
-Every year Coach Ernst has a bunch of no name players and run his system flawlessly and then by the end of the year, we all know their names lol. This team may be led by Sr guards Cash Clark, Kolby Doka and Blake Wolfe. Then Sr big men should make some noise with Nick Valencia and Karson Sherwood.
Valley Vista
-A brand new team essentially this year but they still have some good talent left on the roster led by Sr PF Curtis Nichols and PG Ka’Leb Connors. Also a nice core of Jr’s with PF Demari Hackett, SF Elijah Thomas and PG Dwight McKnight. Lastly they have stud incoming freshman guard Aadem Isai.
