He used his speed to get by defenders and made some good passes on several occasions to put his teammates in good positions to score.
2022 Guard Brandon Morgan: One of the better shooters that we saw on the day, he knocked down shots at a high level especially from three point range. You can tell he spends a good amount of time on his shot as he doesn’t take much time to get it off as well as having consistently good form and lift.
HPCA 2020 Landon Sutton: Just about every person in the state that has watched him play recently knows that he can shoot the ball from three point range at a level so that’s no surprise. He’s in the running as one of the best shooters in the state but he also displayed an ability to make plays off the dribble which allowed him to get to the basket for some easy buckets.
Lumberton HS 2021 Guard Charlie Miller: The son of a college coach, you can tell that he’s been around the game for a long time as he has a nice IQ and seems to have an advanced feel for the game. He can shoot the ball well from deep and does a nice job moving without the ball, is one that we feel should have a pretty solid role for his high school squad.
Bishop McGuinness 2020 Guard Jake Ledbetter: The state champ is the type of PG that you like to have on your squad simply because he knows how to win games. He won’t necessarily wow you with his speed or athletic ability but he has a high IQ for the game and plays with confidence which is two attributes that we definitely like.
Northwood Temple 2020 Guard Jay Hickman: We got the opportunity to see him play on and off the ball in this setting and he was solid throughout. Once he adjusted to the physicality that was being played with, he was able to make some plays which included showcasing his smooth jump shot. He took on a pretty large role during his time at Terry Sanford last season so it will be interesting to see how things go at Northwood as he definitely will be needed for them to be successful.
Pine Forest HS 2020 Guard Marquis Eskew: Athletic guard that attacked and put a pretty good amount of pressure on his opponents throughout the day. With the loss of multiple leading scorers from last season, we fully expect him to step in to a larger role for Pine Forest as he had some bright spots last year including a stellar performance in the Conference Tournament.
