At 6’1, Henry is a wing player that can play on both sides of the ball, rebound and defend. He is at his best attacking the basket off the dribble, but can also shoot from the outside and handle the ball as well.
He says competing with the Hoggs has helped him prepare for the rigors of varsity play as he looks to earn a big role with his high school team this season.
“The Hoggs have been fun, we have had a up and down but still working and getting better,” he says. “I love the challenge of playing an age group up, I think that will really help me for the upcoming school season. As a sophomore, with not that many upperclassmen I want to be a leader and I felt like leading the Hoggs has helped prepare me for the season.”
Henry says he has focused on improving his ball handling this offseason.
“I have worked on stepping up in situations and always being positive to my teammates,” he says. “I’ve also really been focusing on my ball handles, I thought that was one part of my game where I wasn’t very comfortable but as the season progressed it had became natural but I am still working on it.”
Henry played in three varsity games last season as the Vikings went 14-8 overall, but with the graduation of seven seniors from that squad, Henry is looking forward to a bigger role this season.
“We finished the season strong, I thought we improved as the season progressed,” Henry said. “Practice really I thought made me better going against a pretty strong senior class.”
Henry says his dad has had the biggest impact on his basketball career to date.
“He has done almost everything for me in sports. He has taught me to work hard and has always done what is best for me. He has always been there for me,” Henry says.
A fan of LeBron James, Henry says he has always looked up to him.
“I love the way he attacks the basket and the decisions he makes on the court,” he says. “I also admire everything he has done off the court. I have tried to replicate how strong he attacks the basket and the way he distributes the basketball.”
