We have had the opportunity to drop in every year and this year was no different with the conclusion of the summer league coming on Tuesday night in the championship games.
Teen Center Guard David Murphy II: The lack of recruitment interest that he picked up is quite confusing but he will take his talent to Moravian Prep to do a Post-Grad year that should only help him pick up some more interest. He’s grown some more over the last year not in height alone but also with his IQ and being a vocal leader on the court. Scoring the ball at a high level but also putting passes on point and in the right spots for teammates to score were attributes we saw from him all game long. He had the play of the day when he blew by his defender and took off just outside the paint to throw down a poster dunk late in the game.
St. Christopher 2021 Forward BJ Freeman: As soon as the game started he looked to attack and was efficient, scoring a bunch of buckets in a small amount of time. Scoring in the paint, knocking down treys, and even some fade away jumpers were all part of the scoring arsenal that he put on display. He already has some D1 offers and you can see why programs on the college level are intrigued about what he can possibly be. As the game was winding down he was able to take the ball coast to coast and score the bucket to tie the game and send it to overtime.
Teen Center 2022 Guard Comeh Emuobor: If I had to pick an MVP for the first championship game that we saw, the award would have to go to him as he was a player that was productive throughout. He plays the game with a confidence that you have to love and doesn’t back down from challenges, he will be one to keep a close eye on over the next few years to see how he develops as he has a nice amount of upside.
Teen Center 2020 Guard Tashaud Alexander: One of the first things that stood out to us about him is the motor that he plays with, he is constantly involved on both ends of the floor and doesn’t take plays off. The crazy thing is the fact that he played in back to back games but still had some of the most energy out of anybody that played. His shooting from three point land was outstanding but he didn’t just simply settle for three point shots all game, he attacked the basket and was able to convert quite a few buckets despite the physical contact.
St. Christopher 2020 Guard Marquis Gill: This youngster is a problem!!! Remember the name if you’re a college coach as he will be a player that will be on the radar of quite a few schools before much longer. He’s an outstanding ballhandler with a smooth jumpshot that seems to score even better when his team needs it in clutch moments. His ballhandling skills allow him to keep defenders off balance and he has some weight on his frame so once he gets by his defender, he can embrace the contact that he gets inside the paint.
