The Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo in Baton Rouge saw a lot of great guard play. Since many of the highly ranked guards in 2020 did not attend, it gave unranked guards and guards in other classes time to shine. In this article, we will take a look at guards who shined during the PH Top 250.

Daniel Ortiz / 6'1" / 2021 / Southwood High School / PG & SG (pictured above)

Ortiz showed why he is one of the better guards in the state at the Top 250.  His ability to handle the ball set him apart from many guards on the day.  Ortiz used his dribble to create separation between himself and his defenders for his jumper.  Daniel has a little Kyrie Irving in him as well.  He has a great ability to get into the paint.  When he was in the lane, he used his strength and creativity to get the ball on the glass.  Ortiz either made the layup or shot a free throw.  Finally, his ability to rebound on both boards showed his ability to be versatile.  Ortiz made a great impression with his all around game at the Top 250.
