Continue ReadingAtlanta, Georgia – Georgia’s class 2A defending state champions, Therrell High School, win the 2019 AEBL High School Showcase this past weekend in Atlanta, Georgia. The AEBL HS Showcase was part of the AEBL Hoops Championship Weekend, which was held at KIPP Collegiate in Atlanta, Georgia. The high school showcase features four of the state’s high school teams and is just a win or go home single elimination tournament.
Now it does not mean much, but teams were only getting a quick preview on what their team will look like in the future once the actual season begins in October. The four teams in the second annual AEBL HS Showcase featured Wheeler High School, who won the event last summer, Hiram High School, Southwest Dekalb High School, and Therrell High School.
Therrell defeated Hiram in the first round on Saturday evening and while Southwest Dekalb took down Wheeler. Both Therrell and Southwest Dekalb met in the finals on Sunday afternoon and where Therrell finished as champions. It is without question that Therrell could be the favorite to once again capture Georgia’s class 2A state title. With key players like 2021 F Robbie Armbrester, 2020 PG Ramon Son, and 2020 F Ra’Sean Frederick returning to the roster, I do not see why they would not be one of the favorties to win it all once again next March.
