The Big Interview: Malik Dia (2022)
A top 30 prospect in Tennessee, Malik Dia is ready this year to dominate as a Blackman sophomore.
Malik Dia ran with EAB 15u this summer.
In August, Dia camped with Vanderbilt. In June, Malik Dia competed at the BCAT Camp. Malik Dia is up to 6-foot-6, nimble and athletic. He loves to score and is always looking to create shots for himself.
He shared several minutes with PrepHoopsTN’s Andrew Force. All of Dia’s answers are bolded below.
What do you see as the goals of Vanderbilt Coaching Staff? Are they good coaches??
Yes. They are great coaches and I love the support and help they gave us (during camp).
Did you learn any new ways to look at the game of basketball from them??
No, not really except to play the game the right way.
What are your personal goals for your sophomore season?
I want to improve as much as possible. I also want to win All-District and All-Tournament this year, but most important is me developing my skill everyday and getting better. Lots of shots everyday.
How good can your team be?
Really good. State Champs good.
Are there any other guys in 2022 or 2023 grades that will definitely play varsity?
Seed Coleman (2022).
How tall are you now?
6’6″.
Are there any skills you improved a lot. That will surprise people?
Mid-range game and my handles have improved. And 3-ball a bit.
