The 16U level in Minnesota was a lot of fun with talent spread across the board on several different teams. Here is the best of the best from the 16 and Under level of play.

The 16U All State Team

For the 16U All State Team we did things a little bit differently. We grabbed the ten most deserving players from this level of play (yes a big part of this is playing on a successful team) and slotted them in a real team position by position. The team players are: Braeden Carrington, Chase Carter, Ryan Dufault, Camden Heide, Andrew Morgan, Francis Nwaokoire, Donovan Smith, Treyton Thompson, Will Tschetter, and Keijuan White. Half of this team is frontcourt players because right now the bigs in Minnesota are of high quality. Look at the size on the first team, as well as the second group below!

[caption id="attachment_780825" align="alignright" width="150"] Keijuan White[/caption]

Point Guard

Ryan Dufault of Minnesota Heat (Waseca, Jr). Dufault was the heart and soul of the Heat team giving the red and back leadership and toughness on a daily basis. He scored when needed, defended often, and most often made sure that the bigs had the right touches.

Keijuan White of Howard Pulley (DeLaSalle, Jr). White's athletic ability is what many talk about, and rightfully so. That said, there is a toughness to White that has helped make him a much better defender and a more gritty lead guard as well.

Combo Guard

Donovan Smith of Grassroots Sizzle (Minnehaha Academy, Soph). Smith is widely known as one of the best shooters in the state of Minnesota. He can play off the ball and hit daggers or he can slide over and handle like he showed at MBCA and with the Sizzle this year. Hampton has offered.

Wings

Camden Heide of D1 Minnesota (Wayzata, Soph). Heide is about to be the most recruited player on this list of talented players. He's the guy that made the round of 14 cuts for the Team USA U16 squad because of his ability to shoot AND his agility going at the rim at 6-foot-6. Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin are among those that have offered.

Braeden Carrington of Grassroots Sizzle (Park Center, Jr). Carrington made a name for himself this spring and summer by hitting jumpers in bulk. Carrington has good size and even better release at the arc. Florida offered this spring.

[caption id="attachment_730877" align="alignright" width="150"] Andrew Morgan[/caption]

Frontcourt

Chase Carter of Grassroots Sizzle (Minnehaha Academy, Soph). Chase is one of the best low post passers that we saw plus his hands and footwork are outstanding. Minnesota, West Virginia, Florida, and Vanderbilt have offered. A key piece for the Sizzle who won 27 of 33 contests.

Andrew Morgan of Minnesota Heat (Waseca, Jr). Andrew has a very real claim as one of the state's best rebounders, few can match his boards per 36 minutes played. Morgan is also stronger than most and has fantastic agility. Big Ten level talent, ranked as a top 150 player nationally.

Francis Nwaokorie of Howard Pulley(Champlin Park, Jr). When it comes to low post feel as well as a beautiful touch, Francis lives in a world of his own. One of the most intelligent low post players in the state. Helped Pulley win 26 of 33 games.

Treyton Thompson of Howard Pulley/Gain Elite (La Lumiere, Jr). Thompson is a top 100-150 player in his class nationally with an offer list that includes Minnesota, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, and several others. Good skills with agility in a 6-foot-11 frame. Also played in two events for Gain Elite.

Will Tschetter of Minnesota Heat (Stewartville, Jr). Pound for pound few players compete with the same level of fire that Will does. Every low post opportunity is a fight. Led the Heat to 40 wins in 43 games.

The 16U All State Second Team

[caption id="attachment_780807" align="alignright" width="150"] Joshua Streit[/caption]

Joshua Streit of WOTN (Eden Valley-Watkins, Jr). If there is a guy that can feel "snubbed" it's Streit as Joshua had a fabulous year. WOTN won 33 of 43 games and Streit - a top 6-7 guy in this class - was the catalyst.

Trey Longstreet of Minnesota Heat (Delano, Jr). Longstreet was every bit as valuable as Morgan, Tschetter, and Dufault, and if you gave players a score in ten different categories, Trey would likely have the best score overall of Heat players.

Kody Williams of D1 Minnesota (Wayzata, Jr). Completely tenacious. One of the better two way guards in the state of Minnesota. If there was a one way to the other score of keeping a guy in front vs getting past players, Williams would score with the best.

Broden Lien of Gain Elite/West Central United (Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdahl, Jr). Broden wasn't just outstanding for one team, he was excellent for two! Another example of how deep this group is in terms of size, Broden most years would be a first team guy on all 16u team.

Cade Haskins of Howard Pulley/Minnesota Crossfire (DeLaSalle, Jr). One of the best shooters in the state. It's that simple. A guy that stretches defenses to madness.

The 16U All State Third Team

Willie Wilson of Grassroots Sizzle (Minneapolis North, Soph). One of the state's better combo players.

Jalen Cook of Gain Elite (Park Center, Jr). When it comes to most improved, Jalen is one of the first that comes to mind.

Jalen Treml of D1 Minnesota (Hopkins, Jr). Treml is simply steady. Did a lot for D1 Minnesota.

Joshua Strong of Minnesota Comets (Champlin Park, Jr). Strong is one the fast track to being a top Minnesota junior guard.

Bryce Lance of SW Minnesota Stars (Marshall, Jr). Don't forget about the smooth playmaking game of Bryce Lance!

[caption id="attachment_730810" align="alignright" width="150"] DJ Akpati[/caption]

The 16U All State Fourth Team

DJ Akpati of Minnesota Comets (Totino-Grace, Jr).

Jack Tauer of Minnesota Heat (Cretin-Derham Hall, Jr).

Grayson Stalboeger of Minnesota Magic (Eastview, Jr).

Drew Maloney of WOTN (St. Charles, Jr).

Henry Shannon of Minnesota Magic (Eastview, Jr).

Andre Gray of Howard Pulley (Hopkins, Jr).

The 16U All State Fifth Team

Reagan Koch of Minnesota Crossfire (Jordan, Jr).

Cooper Laufenburger of Lakeville North (WOTN, Jr).

Andrew Nerud of Minnesota Magic (New Prague, Jr).

Jack Frick of Minnesota Fury (Chaska, Jr).

Corbin Froelich of West Central United (Paynesville, Jr).

Isaiah Davis of Grassroots Sizzle (Minnehaha Academy, Jr).
