One of my favorite things to do this month is make predictions for the upcoming HS season. With that being said, here are my 6A State Title Predictions:
Top 3 Contenders:
Cesar Chavez
Cesar Chavez seems to be most people’s early front runner for state this year and I don’t blame them. Chavez has an electrifying guard duo that will put up big time points, Ty Ty Washington & Ricardo Sarmiento. Both have drastically improved this summer compared to last season and they both turned in great seasons last year. I can’t wait to see what they have in store for their junior campaign.
Skyline
Skyline has a super well rounded team and they’ve got one of the best point guards in the state to fuel their fire. Dayton Harris is probably the best pure point guard in the state and by far has the best passing vision in state. The kid is a leader and is really good at making his teammates better and setting them up for shots. Dom Capriotti and Tanner Poeschl will have big time roles on the team as well. Capriotti is a knockdown 3 point shooter and Tanner runs the floor as well as any big.
Desert Vista
Osasere Ighodaro and John Soloman are going to be very tough to stop. Their front court is absolutely loaded with these two. They will likely have the size and athletic advantage over every opponent they face. Their guard play isn’t anything to sleep on, with Marcus Wady running the show.
Sleeper:
Perry
I think Perry could potentially surprise some people and make a run at the title. Why? Dylan Anderson. Anderson has steadily improved and I think he’ll eventually see a big jump in his skill level and what if that is this season? We don’t have many 6’10-6’11 forwards that move as well or shoots the 3 as well as Anderson does. If he develops or gets really hot come playoff time, I wouldn’t count them out of any game.
