Prep Hoops takes a look at several of the state’s top performers throughout the spring and summer.
15 — Spencer Bain, 6’2, G, 2020, Blue Valley West, MoKan EYBL
Bain has quietly emerged as a college prospect after putting together a strong offseason running with MoKan Elite. He came off the bench to provide a spark and a smooth outside shooting stroke, and showed the ability to run the point or play off the ball at a high level. He has a strong, physical frame that allows him to defend well, is a crafty ball handler and is a knock down shooter when he has his feet set.
33-Jerome Goossen, 6’5, 2020, Andover Central, NLHA 17
Goosen is a long, lanky player who didn’t shoot the ball from distance much with his high school team, but showed the ability to light up the scoreboard this summer as he ran with NLHA. He has a quick shooting release and range well beyond the 3-point arc and plays with confidence. He can mix it up inside as he was often asked to do for Andover Central as his team’s tallest player, but can also defend some on the perimeter and is a capable ball handler.
5-Easton Hunter, 6’2, G, 2020, Andale, NLHA Gaddis
Hunter had a big offseason running with NLHA drawing a lot of attention throughout the summer for his performances. He is an impressive shooter with range beyond the 3-point arc and can put the ball on the floor and create some offense off the bounce for himself as well. Hunter is a willing passer and a strong rebounder who showed off an all-around game this summer with NLHA,
6 — Jaden McGrath, 5’11, G, 2020, Independence, Kansas Pray N Play
McGrath has long been known as one of the state’s top shooters in his class and continued to showcase that skill this summer. He is a confident spot up shooter who can be lights out with a clean stroke and a quick release. He can fill in at the point and can handle it some and get his teammates involved. He’s an unselfish player and one who improves the team when he’s on the floor.
22 — Logan Skeens, 6’0, G, 2020, Shawnee Mission Northwest, Primetime Ballerz
Skeens put together several strong performances in July with Primetime Ballerz, showcasing his ability to shoot and his all-around offensive game. While he is deadly with his feet set, he can also handle it, moves well without the ball and has the ability to finish tough chances in the lane.
