Prep Hoops takes a look at several of the state’s top performers throughout the spring and summer.
15-Koby Campbell, 6’2, G, 2020, Rose Hill, NLHA 17
Campbell has drawn offers from Nebraska Wesleyan and Kansas Wesleyan, and is drawing interest from several other schools as well. He has good size, width and understanding of an up-and-down game. He plays physical when the game calls for it and can hit jump shots and 3-pointers with a defender on him. He uses his shoulder to feel for space and takes every inch he can get. A smart player with a nice shot.
22 — Cougar Downing, 5’11, PG, 2020, Olathe West (Kan.), KC Pacers
Downing impressed with his play for the KC Pacers this summer, helping run the point and showcasing a high basketball IQ along the way. He has caught the eye of several NCAA Division II coaches as he shows a good feel for the game, the ability to put the ball on the floor and create and an all-around offensive skill set. He can shoot the ball from the outside and gets to the basket well off the dribble.
13-Thomas King, G/F, Campus, NLHA Gaddis
King recently picked up an offer from NCAA DIvision II program Washburn. He is a terrific athlete who can play above the rim, run the floor like a deer and defend all over the court. King has the ability to knock down shots from behind the 3-point arc and is especially dangerous out of the corners. He showed the ability to handle the ball a little this summer, rebounds well and is exceptional in transition.
10-Mayson Quartlebaum, 6’5, G/F, 2020, Lawrence, KC RUN GMC 17 RISE
Few players across the state has seen their stock rise more late in the summer than Quartlebaum who has drawn several offers in recent weeks, including St. Francis Brooklyn, Stetson, SEMO and Kennesaw State. He has a strong, physical frame and a smooth outside shooting stroke. He brings mobility to the floor and a well-rounded skill set, able to handle the ball, pass and rebound.
21-Jordan Vincent, 6’2, G, 2020, Eisenhower, KC RUN GMC 17 RISE
A long, rangy guard with terrific size and length, Vincent is a tough defender capable of getting in the passing lanes and harrassing opposing players in the backcourt. He is a well-rounded offensive player who has nice handles, a smooth mid-range game and the ability to get to the basket. He recently picked up an offer from NCAA Division II program Washburn.
